Life

curiousa2z

Be patient till the last.
USUALLY I avoid cop shows like the plaugue, but must admit this one is different:
..about a cop (played by my favouirte ginger, Damien Lewis of The Baker fame) who gets set up by a person [or persons] in the police department and is sentenced to "Life" for the murder of his friend's family.

He gets a lawyer who believes he's innocent and she not only gets him out of prison, but gets him a $50 million dollar settlement, as he spent 12 years getting every bone in his body broken whilst he was there (an honest cop in prison? nasty).

The TWIST is whilst in jail, he discovered Zen Buddism, so now he's out, he struggles to not be attached to all the loot he can now buy (there are always fantastic cars that something horrible happens to) and his secret desire for revenge, and the clues that lead him closer to figuring out who set him up.

If you are looking for something extremely well-written, darkly funny and a bit cerebral- as well as the usual gory murders and cop-show stuff, give it a try.

Doesn't this get moved around a lot? Or has it been on a hiatus?

I'm not sure; friends loaned us the first year DVD that they got for Xmas and we got hooked - I see year 3 will start Feb. 4th on NBC - which sucks cuz that means parts of year 2 will no doubt be spoiled, but I can't wait til that DVD comes out....it's very addictive!

AND you don't need total recall memory / and an annoted bibliography to follow what's going on the way you do with Lost these days!

Well, that's always a plus.

^I'm starting to wonder how much longer I'll be sticking with Lost...maybe I'll just follow the spoilers for awhile.
I mean, did YOU remember that the white-haired lady's from the jewelry store's name was Eloisel? So you knew the curly top with the rifle Widmark called "Ellie" was her?....see what I mean?

Hell, I don't even watch Lost anymore. I'll read spoilers, and recaps, but I'm....wait for it....LOST

Never 'eard of it.

Very sweet show. Love almost every aspect of it.
where'd you get that 50m figure from? just wikipedia? I can't remember that episode...

Not a bad show.

Show bad a not.

Is the show still on, I cant recall seeing it in a bit.

you may have simply forgotten it from the first season, which is all we've seen. IIRC they referred to that amount in a couple of the eps. I haven't wikied the show yet but I may now!
it sounds like there's quite a hiatus between seasons though....( omg why is that with every show I like??!!)

Just saw that ABC.com has full episodes from every season so I'll try and start watching and catch up on Lost someday.

Looks like I'll have to wait for DVD for Life though. Saw the first season and it was good.

^I must admit I was a little shocked that something NOT from HBO (i.e.Dexter, True Blood) was good!

^Hard to imagine, huh? But Dexter is Showtime. ;)

^right!
I should have written "something from the usual networks"....we don't have Showtime in Canada. So we are behind in Dexter until the next DVDs come out. :(

Life is the only police drama I've ever enjoyed.

Very well possible. Only remember him being very secretive about it.

Starts again tonight! Season two was probaby even better than season one - their new boss is pretty awesome and a couple of other developments are very exciting as well. Don't want to spoil it for you though. ;)

Very good show. Season one was interrupted by the writer's strike, so there were only 5 or 6 episodes.

Don't know about season 2 starting tonight, at least not in the U.S. It started back in Sept/Oct and has aired a handful of episodes already. Took the usual holiday break for six weeks like Chuck, Heroes, etc, and it'll be back on the air in the U.S. this week on Wednesday.

Very good show, season 2 is better than season 1. And Sarah Shahi is FUCKING SMOKING.
