Lex Luthor was off the ball in Superman II.

He was sloppy.

In Superman (1978), Lex Luthor goes through pains to make kryptonite to use against Superman. In Superman II (1981), you have those 3 Kryptonian baddies {General Zod the icon, Ursa, Non}, & it doesn't occur to Lex Luthor to make a new batch of kryptonite, or dig up some of the kryptonite he made in Superman, to use as a control over Zod & his 2 best friends. And I don't mean Zod's friends in the Winnebago.

Very sloppy of Lex Luthor.Instead of Zod, Ursa & Non being Lex Luthor's allies, they could've been his slaves.

Superman II was fun to see in the theater.

Well, don't forget that Luthor was seemingly very lucky to find the chunk of Kryptonite in a metior in the first film, so getting more wouldn't've been that easy (although Superman villians always do seem to find a way...).

That plus the fact that he wasn't expecting to meet Zod, Ursa and Non, he just saw them take over the world and made the best of it.

There wasn't really much point of him being in Super-Man 2, IF YOU THINK ABOUT IT.

Maybe Trek 12 will be a "remake" of Superman 2?

They made one and two at the same time thinking they would just make one long film, then when it turned out to be a bit too long, they split it, then filmed some new scenes, since originally the nuke superman threw into space released the villian, and the turning the earth round to turn back time happened at the end of what would become 2, rather than after the earthquake.

That was a long sentence!

I HAVEN'T SEEN THE RICHARD DONNER CUT, IS IT BETTER OR WORSE?

Much better, IMO.

It's only problem is that it ends with Superman turning the world back in time again[ but that was unavoidable. That ending wasn't originally in Superman 1, only in Superman 2, but they decided that they didn't want to wait to use it in a later film, so they used it in the first film and Donner would figure out an ending to Superman 2 when it was time to. Of course that never happened, and it wasn't exactly possible to shoot a new ending when they did the Richard Donnor cut of Superman 2, so he just turns the world back in time again.

Which means Clark going back for "revenge" against the bully doesn't make any sense because the bully wouldn't remember beating up Clark the first time, RIGHT?

I take it the bit where he throws the "S" out of his chest is gone?

IF ONLY WIKIPEDIA EXISTED!

So, both movies still at all available the way they originally came out? I'm not as fond of every movie in history being reworked, I liked these two the way they were.

Yeah, it's just an ALTERNATIVE.

I've only seen them when they first came out.
So that's my only recollection of them.

SO THAT'S ALL I GOT.

GREEDO DIDN'T SHOOT FIRST, YOU FAT MONEY-GRUBBING BEARDO FUCK.

They got the right actor for Luthor in the Superman movies, but they were dumb writing his character as comedic relief, and saddling him with a bumbling henchman.

Whoda thunk this is the same man who gave us Otis:

Well, technically, the Donnor Cut IS how it was originally supposed to come out. Superman II was about 80% done when they brought Richard Lester in to redo it.

Lucas's motivation isn't money. He's just insane.
