Speaking of Glee

Fuddlemiff

Is this real life?
(in my previous thread which you probably haven't read yet because this is higher on the thread list)

Do American high schools really have them? There's so much weird high school cultural shit shown in US shows, I never know what to make of it. Bands? Glees? Seemingly rigid social segregation? We don't really have any of those things here. When I was in high school there were popular kids and unpopular ones (I wasn't really one or the other FYI, BUT NOW IM AN INTERNET POPULAR PERSON LOLZ), but not jocks, nerds, cheerios, etc. Everyone intermingled pretty much and my class got on brilliantly well, without the aide of barnstorming showtunes to bring us together, much to my chagrin.

IS AMERICAN HIGH SCHOOL REALLY HELL?

DOES MICHELLE TRACHTENBERG REALLY HAND OUT SIGNED PHOTOS?

DO PEOPLE REALLY BREAK OUT INTO '80s GLAMROCK ANTHEMS?

IS IT STILL RAINING OUTSIDE?

THIS ISN'T A QUESTION BUT YOU'RE READING IT WITH AN INTONATION THAT SUGGESTS IT IS BECAUSE YOU SUBCONSCIOUSLY RECOGNISED THERE WAS A QUESTION MARK AT THE END OF IT BEFORE YOU STARTED READING IT????

I don't know. Back in my day, there were chamber ensembles and madrigal groups who did the fancy singing beyond basic choir, but it was ancient/traditional stuff, no new songs or mashups.

Budget cuts probably prevent many public schools from having them unless they are started and funded independently. But I would bet that the show is causing a resurgence of them.

My high school didn't have a glee club, but I was a band nerd and we were the outcasts of the school. We didn't care, because we made good friends and had fun. Band romances were always fun.. PLUS the drum majorette had an affair with the band teacher and he divorced his wife and married her (after she graduated and had her 18th birthday, lol). He was let go, of course. Where I live there is a big income gap between the rich and the poor. Being poor made you somewhat of an outcast unless you were exceptionally hot.

FUDDLEMIFF DID YOU KNOW THE FIRST GLEE CLUB WAS FORMED IN LONDON?

I SOMETIMES BREAK OUT INTO 80'S GLAMROCK ANTHEMS. HERE I AM, ROCK YOU LIKE A HURRICANE.

YES IT IS STILL RAINING.

Remember when Isaac told David americans sing and dance all the time and the big soft thicko believed him (on Big Brother.) Fuck.
