It's the Eduardo injury all over again. The players were shell shocked. Credit to them for pulling it out of the bag and beating the scummy dirty Stoke players.

From what I hear Shawcross had to be led crying from the pitch. I don't think he's a dirty player. I've yet to see the challenge to see if true intent was in it. It sounds utterly horrific, though.

There is no way Shawcross went in with any intent but it's reckless and Rambo's career could be over at the tender age of 19. Sickening.

I was having such a good day watching Chelsea get hammered by Citeh and Bridge refusing to shake Terry's hand and generally another fun drama filled Saturday in the EPL but this has just made me feel like shit even though I should be happy to be well and truly back in contention for the title.

Is it the shoes, are they sticking into the ground too firmly, not allowing enough give?

I think it was an honest mistake. You can tell Shawcross didn't see Rambo coming in for the tackle and attempted to complete his pass. If anyone was reckless, it was Ramsey. He ran in too fast and there was really no way Shawcross could've stopped his kick.

The ball looked as if it was behind Shawcross when the challenge went in. The fact that Ramsey was also challenging made the coming together 1000 times worse, but yes, it looked utterly reckless. Needs replays to tell, though.

I don't think you can tell if that's the case or not. They chose not to replay it, so all you have is a 50/50 challenge where your only view is at distance. It was certainly made worse by the fact that Ramsey chose to lunge as well, but that footage makes it too difficult to tell any true intent: Where was Shawcross looking when they came together, for instance?

It looks as if Shawcross could see Ramsey, and had already lost full control of the ball, which would put him at fault. To be honest, without a full review of it, it's almost impossible to tell.

It sucks that SKY won't release the footage.

OMG CONSPIRACY!

too soon?

3 leg breaks in 5 years points to the fact that teams with less technical skill than us come in to games with the philosophy of "Arsenal don't like it up 'em" and this, sadly, is the result.

I'm gutted for Ramsey but after cooling down about it I also feel bad for Shawcross who was clearly distraught at causing the injury. It wasn't intentional but he swiped at it way too wildly and Ramsey was too quick for him and well...lets just hope he gets back quickly and he doesn't have any long term problems once his lengthy rehabilitation is over.

I've seen replays on BBC now. Shawcross was focusing on the ball, and Ramsay's leg was planted jut behind the ball. Shawcross could see him, and was trying to clear, but Ramsey's pace was greater than he gave credit for, so as his leg swing came over the moving ball, he wound up kicking Ramsey's planted foot.

Total 50/50. Shawcross could have pulled out, but I see it as more accidental than intent.

Wow. I don't even like football, but I'm enjoying this.

I now see what Rich meant by not seeing pictures from Picturehoster. I can't see any of them with Google Chrome, but I can with every other browser.
