What were the policies that worked against Thatcher the most during her last years in power?

Unfortunately Thatcher left power a little before my interest in politics, and reading over her record online would not do justice to all the factors in play, but I can venture a thought: Thatcher followed some of the same fiscal policies that her American counterparts did in Reagan/Bush I. That is, pretending to speak for the common citizen while in reality gearing a number of the best financial and tax breaks towards the wealthiest citizens and redistributing it to the middle class. Here they called it trickle-down economics; over there it took shape in the poll tax and other changes she pushed for. Like I said, I can't possibly pick up a thorough knowledge of English politics in a few minutes, but I do know Margaret Thatcher was seen as an ally of the Conservatives here in USA. And it's probably no coincidence that her fortunes fell about the same time our country shifted hard toward liberalism with the Clintons.

I will say I find aspects of your country's political system extremely entertaining as a whole...

dunkable ones. There really isn't such a thing as an awful cookie. But I'll tell you one I hate, that's those christmas ones they call anise-flavored. I fully agree but I think they're pronouncing it wrong.

Idiocracy was a decent concept that like so many other comedies fell victim to terrible writing, bland characters and weak jokes in place of true biting Satire. Truthfully, Sylvester Stallone did a much better job capturing a bland and stupid futuristic society in Demolition Man. The satire in that movie was much more on target...not to mention it allows us to see future heavy-hitters in Sandra Bullock and Benjamin Bratt, as well as Snipes stealing every scene he's in. The only really funny bit in Idiocracy is the part where he figures out they're watering the fields with I think Gatorade or something...

Would have been better without the alien stuff. Weak entry into the series, but when I went back and re-watched the originals with some friends in anticipation, none of them really held up well.
