Saddest TV moments ever

Coop getting possessed by BOB and trapped in the Black Lodge for eternity at the end of Twin Peaks.

The ending sequence of Six Feet Under.

The death of Lucius Vorenus.

Not really tv per se, but I was listening to Howard Stern the morning of 9-11 as the morning went from goofball bawdy comedy to sudden shock and interest, to dawning horror as Howard and his gang learned along with the rest of us what was happening. As soon as I got to college I told my classmates about the first plane (at that moment it was still just a horrific accident, and we muddled through the class. Then we ran for the tv room and saw the second plane hit.

No imagined or other sad moment will ever compare to that moment...

I got to watch most of it live as I was still awake from getting home from a plane trip That Night/Morning.

Xena & Gabby on the cross weren't really sad to me since you knew they would be back the next season.

Now, Xena dying in "A Friend in Need," still gets to me, but only because Rob Tapert had promised he wouldn't kill her off, and then he does it in the most brutal way he could. Asshole.

Lucy on ER.

Starbuck's final scene on BSG.

Lucy on ER.
Yeah, I almost included that too, but I already had Mark Greene, so...

The scene where Benton is prepping Carter, and Carter looks up to him and says "I'm glad it's you" -- gets me every time, knowing the intense, contentious relationship they'd had throughout the whole show.

The part that gets me in that scene is Benton rushing down the stairs to get to Carter.

Starbuck's final scene on BSG.

And the fleet flying into the sun.

AND YEAH, ROSLIN'S DEATH, I KNOW YOU ALL HATE HER BUT ADAMA WAS SAD.

I don't know if "I know about farming" was a sad or happy moment.

Sarek's dementia in TNG, when Picard goes to visit him. To witness a once vibrant, intellectual proud man sink to the depths of not being in control tore my heart out.

^How about Picard sharing Sarek's last thoughts with Spock? That doesn't quite do me in like Inner Light, but it's still up there.

Kinda amazed nobody's mentioned Lost's "Ab Aeterno".

Radar O'Reilly's final episode on M*A*S*H.

Personally my saddest tv moment came a few months ago when a grands worth of plasma went bang.

Not really sad for me. I have to get to love a character over time, watch something tragic happen to them, then I feel sad. What happened to Richard in that episode wasn't all that sad, but an enigma resolved.

Radar O'Reilly's final episode on M*A*S*H.

I don't know why people reference any M*A*S*H episode other than the series finale. That was almost horrifically sad.

Yeah but the demented old fart didn't die, he just came here.

Because there was more than one sad moment.

Tessa's death and the Dust in the Wind montage in Highlander.

Yeah, but the thread is for the saddEST moments of TV. Not just all the sad things you can think of. Finale of M*A*S*H trumps all other sad moments in that show.

"He wasn't a soldier...he was a musician."

When Carol Burnette said her last goodbye (I was VERY young at the time)

In your opinion. Colonel Blake's death was the saddest for me ;).
