The Hangover Part II

Big Dick McGee

If you don't know, now ya know
I was really looking forward to seeing this movie last Saturday. The Hangover, in my opinion, is the funniest film of the last couple decades. It's one of the funniest I've ever seen. The previews for Part II were promising and laugh-out-loud funny, so much so that I consciously avoided them after the first couple, lest they be the only funny parts of the movie.

So, LG and I got a babysitter and went to an afternoon matinee last saturday. My review: MEH. C+ at best. It's a very, very lazy sequel because it's basically the same movie as the original, but not nearly as funny.

There were some funny scenes, but overall the movie was forced and unfunny. The laughs are few and far between.

I might just have to buy the original this weekend, to remember just how motherfucking funny it is.

I still haven't seen the first one, but I WILL.

I saw the first one on HBO a couple months ago. I still don't understand what all the hype was about. It's not even close to the funniest anything I've seen. It's barely a comedy.

I would imagine the sequel is complete crap.

^^^Dude, seriously? I dunno, maybe it's because I saw it in a sold-out theater (during its second week of release, no less), and every single person was laughing uncontrollably, but I honestly thing that The Hangover is one of the funniest movies I've ever seen. My friends and I still quote the thing, and it came out 2 years ago.

It's a hilarious comedy if you assume that those kind of behaviors and attitudes are naturally funny. It's pretty subjective. Personally I don't laugh at half the current giants of comedy, things like Tim & Eric Awesome Show, because the point of view of it all is of white guys who think they are too cool, asking us to laugh at characters who aren't really doing anything funny, but wow they're weird and not cool at all so let's laugh at them! It's too smarmy for my tastes.

Yeah I don't get The Hangover at all. Maybe it's because I watched it after a year of reading all hyperbole about its "brilliance" (the greatest comedy in DECADES, really?) but I still just don't think it was all that funny and I really don't see how it was different from any other similar comedy. I probably laughed about three times and that was mostly at Ken Jeong. I literally found Hot Tube Time Machine (I have copies of a lot of bad movies okay) funnier and it wasn't even all that good!

The adverts for the sequel just made it look like the exact same movie but in a different country.

I saw an advance screening of the Hangover 2 a few days before it officially came out and everyone in the theater was laughing so loud and uncontrollably I missed a few lines of dialogue here and there.

Hell, even high Hangover II was only mildly amusing. What helped it was Bradley Cooper keeping his shirt undone for much of the film.

But yeah, gotta say...Hangover being the funniest comedy in decades? Nah....

Role Models, Step Brothers, Anchorman. All more funnier to me than the original Hangover, which I did like a lot.

I personally think The Hangover is an excellent film. Very funny but a bit over-hyped all the same. I can't say I'm hyped at all for the sequel though so I'm not going to be let down considering it was always going to be inferior to the original.

I remember seeing an interview with a Oriental fella who said he had an idea to jump out the car naked. He was laughing, saying it just came to him, and the director totally got it and went for it. He also said he couldn't wait to do the jump out of the car naked scene again in the second film.

I thought the interview was a spoof.

If you are smiling, or laughing, or finding any kind of amusement at this as a concept I suggest you kill yourself.

I liked how they had another guy in Mike Tyson's scenes to say most of his lines since he was barely convincing playing himself.

I guess I'm in the minority here, because I found The Hangover to be much, much funnier than Role Models and Step Brothers. And like 50 billion times funnier than Anchorman. I'm just not a fan of movies that have a lot of improv, they just feel forced to me. But that's why movies are great, we all have our favorites.

I was reading quotes yesterday, and yeah, The Hangover is the funniest movie I've seen in at least 20 years.

The first ten minutes of Zoolander are funnier than all of the Hangover and have Natalie Portman in them.

What is this? A center for ants?
