I CAN'T BELIEVE THE DOCTOR REGENERATED INTO JACK DEE.
 
It was really really light. It wasn't bad. Nothing really memorable though. Aliens were pretty shit and fucked if I can remember what their plan was, but it's Christmas! 7/10 probably.

I have no idea why Matt Lucas was in it? He was literally pointless.

To remind us how lonely the Doctor is. And that he needs a companion no matter how useless.
 
Also the whole thing where the guy was in love with the girl for 24 years and she'd been married this best friend but he called her by her married name rather than her first name and was the nanny to her baby was a bit creepy but that's Christmas Moffat for you!

I like to just keep watching last year's Christmas special over and over.
 
Well, if I read that I wouldn't need to watch the special. I'd already know which SantaDalek James Corden was playing just by looking at the front cover!

I didn't like how the Doctor was hogging all the world/universe saving glory again. You're in love, no need to use your superpowers to save the world, that's my job!.

Eh, it was all right. Not as good as last year's, not as bad as the one from the year before that.
 
Watching it now. The story's a bit meh and Matt Lucas is annoying, but it's got some really good comedy moments.
 
Felt a bit like the Doctor was just a guest star on his own show, and the leads were really less than compelling. Matt Lucas doesn't so much annoy me as make me think of a fat, bald Matt Smith. Probably the lack of eyebrows they share in common. Has there been an eyebrow shortage in the U.K.? Did Peter Capaldi get more than his share and leave several thousand others with none?
 
Peter Capaldi is leaving with Moffat after the next series. :(

I KNOW that 3 series is what Tennant and Smith did (though they had a few extra specials) but it still feels to me like Capaldi could have gone on much longer. He still feels new!
