Terrell Owens joins Fan Controlled Football, believes he could defy odds with NFL return​

The popcorn: Get it ready. At 48 years old, Hall of Fame wide receiver Terrell Owens is returning to professional football. He is joining the Fan Controlled Football league, where he is expected to be paired with quarterback Johnny Manziel on the Zappers for the season's April 16 start. Owens has not played professionally since 2010, when he caught 72 passes for 983 yards and nine touchdowns with the Cincinnati Bengals, but he has never considered himself retired from the game and maintains he can still play at a high level. Owens starred for 15 seasons in the NFL, playing for the San Francisco 49ers, Philadelphia Eagles, Dallas Cowboys, Buffalo Bills and Cincinnati Bengals. He was named first-team All-Pro five times and made six Pro Bowls. He ranks third all time in receiving yards with 15,934.

Derek Carr agrees to 3-year, $121.5 million extension with Las Vegas Raiders, source confirms​

Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Derek Carr signed a multiyear contract extension Wednesday.The Raiders did not disclose terms of the deal, but a source confirmed to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler that Carr agreed to a three-year, $121.5 million extension that includes a no-trade clause and runs through the 2025 season. Carr, the Raiders' second-round draft pick in 2014, from Fresno State, holds franchise records in passing yards (31,700), TD passes (193) and game-winning drives (30). Carr's 57 wins ranks third in franchise history behind Hall of Famer Ken Stabler (69) and Daryle Lamonica (62), and his 70 losses is the most.

Agreement reached to nullify $518K sale for Tom Brady's 'final' touchdown ball​

The $518,000 sale of the game ball used in the now-unretired Tom Brady's "final" touchdown pass has been voided by mutual agreement between buyer, consigner and auction house, according to Lelands Auctions on Thursday. Due to the unique nature of Brady's decision to return 40 days after he first announced his retirement in late January -- and less than 24 hours after the auction closed, no less -- no money was exchanged, so the agreement was simply nullified, according to a source familiar with the negotiations.

Sources: New Orleans Saints, safety Tyrann Mathieu agree to 3-year, $33 million deal​

Tyrann Mathieu is coming home.The New Orleans Saints have reached a three-year, $33 million deal with $18 million guaranteed with the All-Pro safety, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter. Language in the contract still needs to be finalized before the deal is officially signed, sources said. Mathieu, who turns 30 on May 13 and started at LSU during his decorated college career, visited with the Saints at their team facility in April after he was not re-signed by the Kansas City Chiefs as a free agent. He also met virtually with the Philadelphia Eagles. But New Orleans' need for an impact safety increased when it did not select one during the NFL draft over the weekend. Mathieu is tied for fifth in the league with 13 interceptions over the past three seasons with the Chiefs, including three in 2021 -- with one returned for a touchdown -- as the nine-year veteran was selected to the Pro Bowl for the second consecutive season.
