Why would anyone invest in digital trading cards or NFT period?

As a former comic book collector/investor it's pretty funny.

I used collect DC/Marvel trading cards. I even had some special Foil/hologram cards. I wonder if they're still worth anything today.
I have a 60 liter tupperware container filled with a few thousand non sports trading cards. Every once in a while I grab a handful and look at them.

They're fun, but as worthless today as when I first acquired them.

I have some Jack Davis penny bubble gum cards from the 50's mixed in there, they're probably worth something.

Mine are in 2 small binders and from the 90's. I guess I'll wait a few more decades to sell them and see if that increased the value or not.

The Question

Eternal
I've never understood the appeal of trading cards of any kind. Playing cards, yes. A fine deck of Hudsons -- say Monarchs, for example -- is both a work of art and practical for gaming.

Some trading cards were cool though...like these.

I went and found some of these, probably half the set.

and of course, sealed packs of the Garbage Pail Kids cards and stickers are worth a small fortune these days.

This one's worth about $500 and it's a STICKER

My daughter was an itty bitty when the Cabbage Patch kids came out. Of course, she wanted one for Christmas. We drove all over Texas to every store carrying them. They were in such demand you couldn't buy them outright. You had to pay $100 - which back in the late 70s was a great deal of money - just for one ticket to go into a drawing for the opportunity to buy one. Kiddo did not get a Cabbage Patch doll that year. A few years later she was into the Garbage Pail Kids - she may have some of that stuff left.

However, NFT digital art is not tangible, is it? Can you print it out on cheap paper and put it on your fake mantel over your fake fireplace in your mobile home?

As usual for Trump It's the grift that keeps on grifting. They're completely useless.

If you go on the website it says they're already "sold out" . Of course they are.

Sure you can print it out. Probably looks great next to that velvet elvis painting.

Former U.S. President Donald Trump’s non-fungible token (NFT) digital trading card collection sold out early Friday, the day after its initial release.
According to data from OpenSea, at time of writing, the collection’s trading volume is 900 ETH, or about $1.08 million. Its floor price is about 0.19 ETH, or about $230 – more than double the original price of $99.

Some tokens are selling for much higher prices. The one-of-ones, the rarest of the NFTs, which comprise 2.4% of the 45,000 unit collection (roughly 1,000), are selling for as much as 6 ETH at the time of writing. One of these rare trading cards, of the 45th president standing in front of the Statue of Liberty holding a torch, is currently listed at 20 ETH, or about $24,000.

According to data from Dune Analytics, nearly 13,000 users minted 3.5 tokens upon the release of the collection. Additionally, 115 customers purchased 45 NFTs, which is the minimum number of tokens that guarantees a ticket to a dinner with Trump; 17 people purchased 100 NFTs, which, according to the Trump Trading Card site, was the maximum quantity allowed to mint. However, additional metrics from Dune show that other wallets held far more.

Currently, 1,000 NFTs, including many one-of-ones, are held in one Gnosis Safe multisignature wallet, which appears to be the wallet receiving royalty payments from the secondary sales of the NFTs.

As you see, the "set" is simply his fucking head pasted onto a bunch of someone else's work (that never got paid or acknowledged. Grifter in chief as usual.
