1960s batman

OMG HIS EVIL PLAN IS SET IN MOTION

Yeah. Umm...BOO.

CATWOMAN SAVE ME!

Nobody ever talks about Michelle Pfeiffer. :(

Selina Kyle was the best Catwoman.

And nobody draws Selina Kyle better than Adam Hughes.

Meanwhile, Adam West and Shatner shoulda done something together. Or still should, perhaps. Something CAMPY, heroic, and fun.

Sweetie, she was a sad Catwoman.
it was prolly the director's idea, because Miss Pfeiffer is such a great actress, she would emote as instructed, but I never thought she embraced that feral sexiness the Big Three did...she was frenetic and vengeful, and deranged, yes, but never revelled in her cattiness, if ya follow me...IMHO, natch.

Not to derail the 60's theme of the thread, but I will say this about Pfeiffer's Burtonesque Catwoman: It was a good way to give the psychological background behind how a Catwoman would be born in Burton's Batuniverse.

This was her origin story after all, and I doubt that any attempt at a story of a sane woman turning to a life of crime and reshaping her persona around cats would be believable. Had Burton actually killed her in the end, it would have been satisfying as a story in itself, ignoring the comics history. But Burton went a step further and left it open with that hint of her in the last frame of the film. He was allowing for the evolution of her character into someone that would become more comfortable in her new skin, and grow into the Catwoman we know from the comics who operates on all cylinders.

The thing is, if they ever bring Catwoman into the new Bat-movie franchise, it will also need to be origin story since the films are set in the early years of Batman's career. I'd like to see someone else take a stab at shaping this character and having her make sense beyond the camp exterior...

I thought Pfeiffer was good. I think they planned to have her in a third film, directed by Burton, but he dropped out because the studio wanted him to make it more camp. Which is also why Michael Keaton dropped out and we got Val Kilmer and Jim fucking Carey going all "LOOK AT MEEEE!" and then Batman and Robin which was so bad it actually KILLED BABIES.

oh, Pfieffer was good; she's always good; that was never the issue.
Just not a fun, campy Catwoman. A SAD catwoman. As in unhappy. Not sad as in an unnamed actress who couldnt act her way out of a wet paper bag sad....

And yeah, if

That could be very interesting....who do you suggest?

The penguin brought the camp with his jet-packed penguin army.

But then batman purests also grumbled about a batman who would strap a bomb to a guy and kick him down a manhole, while smiling, then burn another guy alive with the exhaust from his car.

I think the rationalization there is, he didn't kill them with his bare hands, so it was okay. Not saying I agree with it, but it might stand up in court in a lawsuit situation...

Hmm...it should be someone who can handle comedy without being a clown, because I always found Julie Newmar's interpretation to be pitch-perfect. Whenever the campy, vampy approach wasn't working or was taking too long, she'd drop the kittenish camp and be all "Oh just KILL them!" to her hench-cats. Catwoman should know she's putting on an act, and we should see in her face when she knows if it's working or not.

I'm not up on all the current hot actresses, but I say possibles might be Rosario Dawson, or some shit like dat.

Jim fucking Carey going all "LOOK AT MEEEE!"

I heard the Riddler was originally supposed to be played by Robin Williams...

Yeah, that would have been so much better!

"Mommy, why is the Riddler so hairy under his unitard?"

Remember when Batman and Robin fought Bruce Lee?
Remember when Romero wouldn't shave his stache, and you could see it through the make-up?
BEST TV SHOW EVER.

FYI:

Grace Lee Whitney played "Neila" in 2 episodes.

Linda Harrison (Nova, Planet of the Apes) played "Cheerleader II" in 2 episodes.

FOR REALZ

Was Jim Gordon a TERRORIST?
