Polite helps No. 21 Florida State beat Gardner-Webb 72-59
Anthony Polite scored a career-high 15 points and Balsa Koprivica added a season-best 14 as No. 21 The Seminoles (5-1) pulled away late. Lance Terry had 23 points for The Bulldogs (1-4), which did not score in the final 2:42. Terry was 8 of 19 from the floor.

Cone gets 18 off bench as No. 24 Virginia Tech tops Longwood
Jalen Cone shot 6 of 15 from the floor - all 3-pointers - for the Hokies (7-1), who struggled for 30 minutes but heated up down the stretch to win their third consecutive game. Leslie Nkereuwem paced Longwood (1-7) with 10 points.
 
Murphy's 15, defense pace No. 16 Virginia past Tribe, 76-40
Trey Murphy scored seven of his 15 points during a 13-0 first-half run. The Cavaliers (4-1) were playing for the first time since they beat Kent State on Dec. 4 but showed few signs of rust. Yuri Covington's 12 points led the Tribe (2-3), which never recovered from their scoring drought. They lost their 12th straight in the series, which Virginia leads 56-26.

Daniels, N.C. State beat 17th-ranked North Carolina 79-76
Devon Daniels had 21 points and Freshman Shakeel Moore scored 17 points for the Wolfpack (5-1, 1-0 Atlantic Coast Conference).Armando Bacot scored 16 points to lead the Tar Heels (5-3, 0-1), who finished with 18 turnovers that led to 19 points for the Wolfpack.
 
Oregon State Beavers' four-year run in AP women's basketball poll ends
The Beavers had the seventh-longest active streak, being ranked for 76 consecutive weeks dating to Dec. 19, 2016. Oregon State lost its lone game last week, falling to Washington State and dropping out of the poll from No. 21. Stanford received 26 of 30 first-place votes from a media panel. Louisville, UConn, North Carolina State and South Carolina followed the Cardinal again in the poll. Connecticut holds the longest active streak of being ranked, with 515 consecutive Top 25 appearances.

Report: Duke Blue Devils end women's basketball season amid coronavirus concerns
The Blue Devils are the first Power Five school to have started this season and will not finish it because of the virus. The Ivy League opted out of playing winter sports in November before the basketball season started. A few other schools also decided not to play this year.

Keve Aluma scored a career-high 26 points for the Hokies (8-1, 2-0 Atlantic Coast Conference), who won their fourth straight game. Aluma added six rebounds and four assists. Isaiah Wong and Matt Cross paced The Canes (4-3, 0-2). with 16 points apiece.

Clemson, Honor rally past No. 18 Florida State 77-67
Nick Honor scored all of his 13 points in the second half, including a 3-pointer with 7:01 to play that gave the Tigers (7-1, 1-1 Atlantic Coast Conference) the lead for good. Scottie Barnes led The Seminoles (5-2, 1-1) with 14 points.

Texas jumps up to No. 4 in AP men's college basketball poll; Gonzaga still No. 1
Texas (8-1) started the year at No. 19 and hadn't cracked the top 10 under Smart before this season. The Longhorns hadn't cracked the top five since spending three weeks at No. 3 followed by a week at No. 5 in February 2011 under former coach Rick Barnes.

Simms, Honor lift No. 19 Clemson to 74-70 win over NC State
Aamir Simms hit a go-ahead basket for a second straight game and the Tigers (9-1, 3-1 Atlantic Coast Conference) rallied from nine-points down in the second half. Nick Honor, a high-scoring Fordham transfer, had 21 points off five 3-pointers. The Wolfpack (6-2, 2-1 Atlantic Coast Conference) showed patience and talent much of the way until the end when it was outscored 21-11 over the game's final nine minutes.
