2023 NCAA TOURNAMENT BRACKETOLOGY
It's pretty unusual for a conference to have more bubble teams than NCAA locks. Yet that is the situation we find ourselves in with the Pac-12. UCLA and Arizona are two of the 10 best teams in the country, but the gap between them and the rest of the conference is dramatically large.

2023 NCAA TOURNAMENT BRACKETOLOGY
It is long past time to address the elephant in the room. A week or so ago that team appeared to be Kentucky. With the Wildcats righting their ship, the title of "biggest underachiever" is held solely by North Carolina. The Tar Heels lost the latest "save their season" game at NC State on Sunday and now carry the burden of an 0-9 Quadrant 1 record into the final two weeks of the schedule.

Mike Krzyzewski still busy post-Duke: 'I don't miss coaching'

Mike Krzyzewski isn't coaching for the first time in 48 years, but that doesn't mean he has retired. Despite being away from the sidelines, the Hall of Fame coach has been busy with speeches and his weekly radio show. Krzyzewski -- who won 1,202 games and five national titles, and also made 13 Final Fours during his career at Army and Duke -- watched his first game post-retirement at Cameron Indoor Stadium on Feb. 14, when Duke hosted Notre Dame. Mike Brey, a former Krzyzewski assistant, announced it would be his final season as Notre Dame's coach earlier this season.

Notre Dame top scorer Olivia Miles injures right knee

Notre Dame star guard Olivia Miles left the game at Louisville on Sunday with a right knee injury suffered while diving for a loose ball under the Irish basket late in the second quarter. Miles, who leads the No. 10 Irish with 14.7 points, 7.4 rebounds, 7.0 assists and 2.1 steals per game, was hurt with 2:35 remaining before halftime. The sophomore became emotional and pounded the floor while being examined by medical personnel. The 5-foot-10 guard last spring became the first freshman in men's or women's basketball to post a triple-double in the NCAA tournament, and she is on the watch list for several national awards.

NCAA sanctions Miami women's hoop for NIL-related infraction
The case involves several prominent figures in the nascent marketplace for NIL deals, none of whom received any direct sanctions from the NCAA. The sanctions stem from a meeting between Miami alum John Ruiz and transfer basketball players Haley and Hanna Cavinder.

******
Miami coach Katie Meier previously served a school-imposed three-game suspension at the start of the Hurricanes' season as a punishment related to this case.

Terry Holland, who transformed Virginia basketball, dies
Two of his first three teams finished with losing records but only one more did as Holland compiled a 326-173 record, led Virginia to nine NCAA tournaments, two Final Fours and the 1980 NIT title.

Including a five-year stint at Davidson, Holland's record is 418-216. His biggest victory, however, likely was luring the nation's most coveted recruit, 7-foot-4 Ralph Sampson of Harrisonburg, to join the Cavaliers for the 1979-80 season, and it was then that the turnaround took off.

South Carolina women's hoop No. 1 for 36th straight week
South Carolina (29-0) finished the regular season unbeaten and was back to being a unanimous choice at No. 1 in the national media poll released Monday. The Gamecocks trail only UConn (51 weeks) for the longest consecutive streak atop the Top 25.

ACC Top-25
No.8: Virginia Tech (24-4)
No.10: Notre Dame (24-4)
No.13: Duke (24-5)
No.18: North Carolina (20-9)
