BTW, goths are only a tiny percentage of Wiccans. Most of us are more crunchy-granola-hippy types, with a generous helping of techno-geeks.

The chief difference between wiccan-style religions and church-based (both satanic and Judeo-christian as well as most eastern deities) is that the churchgoer asks for prayers to be answered by some unknowable parental-figure, "please father may I have." While the wiccan-style says "this is what I want and it will be mine at my sayso." At its core it is the recognition of God within, and the deification of humankind. It's also what Jesus preached in his true sermons. Is personal empowerment such a scary thing, whatever you want to call it?
