A comprehensive list of mostly pointless remakes and spin-offs

I just watched the original The Taking of Pelham One Two Three the other night and liked it enough to guarrantee that the remake coming out next year will blow.

I saw that for the first time the other day. Can't imagine the remake is better, though it probably has a lot less of that '70s casual racism.

But the remake has fat John Travolta!

Do a list of the ones that DIDN'T suck.

It'd be much shorter ;)

Most of the ones in the opening post haven't been seen yet.

And yet they cancel the Justice League movie :(

They are going to remake the Kids from Fame.

Most pointless remake? The W icker Man.

What about that remake of Jaws where they removed the shark?

Why remake a movie that only CERTAIN PEOPLE even remember and only then for CERTAIN REASONS?

Logan's Run? 2012, according to IMDb. You know what else is happening in 2012? THE WORLD ENDS. Cowinkydink? I THINK NOT.

The Logan's Run remake is stuck in development hell I think.

I know Brian Singer doesn't want to do it any more.

This is good news. One can only hope it stay there.

Remakes that didn't suck:

Evil Dead 2

Hey hey.

The Thing is great.

I'm sure there's been shitty british versions of american things...umm, I can't remember any but I know there has.

There were two that I can recall, both so horrendous in their interpretation they were pulled before their entire run, and they only had six episodes each, which shows how bad they were.

One was the golden girls, except instead of Sophia being italian and making jokes about the mafia, she was irish, and made jokes about the IRA.

The other was Married with Children, with Russ Abott playing the role of Al Bundy, well I say playing, but that would involve some modicum of acting, whereas in reality none were present.

I beleive one of these jems was pulled after only two episodes.

I reckon a new Logan's Run could really rock in the right hands. As long as they didn't dumb it down or change the story completely for no reason. Which is what they probably would do.

I think when Brian Singer was doing it he wanted to go back to the original novel (where the Carosel age is 21 and Logan and Jessica end up on a rocket to the moon to find Sanctuary).

Not sure I like the sound of that. The idea of the sanctuary really being the outside world that they thought they needed to be protected from in the dome is simpler and more poetic.
