What if when we dream, its not actually our subconscious thoughts played out like some high def tv show in our brain, but rather for one never to be repeated moment, we get to see our life in a parallel universe, to see the life we would have lead were we born in a different quantum reality.

Each night we connect to many different realities, some close to ones we have visited before, but always with a tiny difference.

And somewhere in the universe there is another version of you, dreaming about your life.
 
But dreams are inconsistent and follow their own dream logic, like one minute you can be a cat, the next your Lena Headey milking a cow which is Summer Glau who is a T1000 in this dream (not that I dreamed this last night you understand.) BUt I suppose those other universes and realities could follow their own rules and have a whole different set of physics.
 
Indeed, or you may switch between similar but different universes mid dream.
 
I had a scary recurring witch dream when I was a little kid. Everything was black spooky lace and cobwebs. I HOPE I NEVER GO BACK TO THAT ALTERNATE UNIVERSE AGAIN.
 
I've dreamed I can fly so often now I just take it for granted, and are really disappointed in real life that I cant just lift both feet off the ground when I am tired of walking.
 
We can all fly, we just forget how to when we wake up.

I believe Cyril Ritchard said that to Dorothy Kilgallen when he was the Mystery Guest on What's My Line. She wore the pearl-lined blindfold that evening.
