I want to smell dark matter
Prologue

He woke up naked and scared. He did not know why he was naked and didn't want to know why he was scared. He pulled himself up. He was on a beach. He had no idea where. The sand was irritating. He staggered towards the sea. He wanted to wash his face. He fell to his knees. He splashed water in his face then noticed that his hands were all cut up. His knuckles were bruised. They hurt. What had he done?

He collapsed face first into the sea. He woke to find a girl dragging him out of the sea. He could barely keep his eyes open. She looked pretty and determined. He thought he might know her. Finally he had the strenght to speak.

"Do I know you?" he asked.

"You killed my brother," she said. Then she pulled her skirt up, showing she wasn't wearing panties.

"Err...okay..." he said, as she mounted him.

"I'm going to fuck you...then kill you," she whispered into his ear. As exhausted as he was she could probably do both at once, he thought.

YES YES YES!

bump

Good start. :)

BUMP-DE-BUMP

More please!!

"Please...please...oh God...uhhh...oooh." He wanted to ask why she though he'd killed her brother. Moaning with pleasure as she rode him was getting in the way. It felt familiar. He'd done this with her before, he knew that. He looked up at the moon. He'd looked at the moon in this position before. "Do I love you?" he asked. She stopped for a moment and punched his niose pretty hard.

"You killed my brother," she repeated.

"I don't remember! I don't remember your brother, I don't remember you or...or anything! Except this fucking feels a bit familiar, I'll admit that."

"I know you killed him. Take my word for it, enjoy this last bitter fuck, then prepare to die." There was no emotion on her face...perhaps some sadness in her eyes, buried deep.

"Please...please just...oooh...how do you know..."

"My brother can erase memories. Yours is erased."

"Your brother can...FUCK THAT'S GOOD...he can erase memories?"

"You'd remember eventually, if I wasn't going to slit your throat with my blades."

"You have blades?"

"Killing him then throwing his head here, to the beach where you used to fucking his sister every night...I don't know what that says about you."

"I threw his head?"

"Yes." She had stopped fucking him now. If she was going to kill him, why was she telling him all this? Was she trying to rationalise it to herself? He thought he saw signs off it. "Ripped it clean off and threw it half a mile. Only you have the strength to do that."

"I do?"

"You just don't remember," she said, then started moving.

"Wait! How did I get in the sea?"

"Well, his mind wiping power, it leaves people disorientated...that must be how." She did not sound sure.

"Why would I kill him?" She looked nearly ready to finally cry now, he noticed.

"Because he was a fucking cunt!" she cried. "I hated him, everyone did. He wanted to be the leader. He wasn't right to lead. We all fucking knew that. Maybe he was trying to mess with your memory to help him get to be leader...wouldn't be the first time he's done something like that."

"So...it might have been self defence?" She punced his nose three times, quickly.

"YOU DIDN'T HAVE TO KILL HIM. You can control your strength. YOU WOULD HAVE KNOWN. You would have known what you were doing."

"I'm...I'm sorry," he said. She climbed off him.

"Your memory back?"

"No...I'm just sorry...hey, what's that?"

"Don't. Don't try to get out of this. You're too dangerous to live with your power, you have to be...oh, wait."

There was a speedboat in the ocean, racing towards them. Three men in black were on board. They had a machine gun.

"The agents," she said.

"The who?"" he asked, but she was already up and moving.

"RUN, idiot, run!" she said, as the bullets started firing.

ARGGH! Cliffhanger.

They ran along the beach, towards the rocks, towards any kind of cover. He thought he felt a bullet whizzing right past his ear. He felt like he'd just been born and now he was about to die.

"Fuck!" he said. She pulled him down behind a small bump in the sand. It would not be safe there for long, if it was even safe for this brief moment.

"You, behind those rocks," she said. There were rocks were near, but he would still be exposed for twenty seconds or so getting to them. He saw a bullet hit the sand between him and the rocks.

"I'll never make it!" he said.

"You're Mighty Mike," she sneered. "You've ran for miles bleeding."

"Yeah, well I don't rememeber that...and Mighty Mike? Seriously?"

"GO, they're coming onto the land. NOW."

"But what are you going to do?"

"Oh what do you think, Mike? I'm going to kill them." She shoved him out from under the sand and he had no choice now to run for the rocks. He looked back over his shoulder to see a flash of steel in the moonlight, coming from the girl. Who was she? What was she? Why was she trying to save him right after threatening to kill him? He dived behind the rocks. He stuck his head out to look. He could see the three men in black. They were ignoring him. They were all firing at her. They must be. He couldn't see her yet...there she was.

She had long knives in both hands. She had mentioned something about "blades" he remembered. Her beautiful red hair was flowing down her back...and he could see her ass. Wow. What was she wearing? He hadn't thought about it before, he'd been looking at her face most of the time when she had been fucking him. But now...what the hell was she? She looked like...

A super hero. Was he thinking that or remembering it?

The three of them were firing at her but she was deflecting the bullets with quick slashes of her blades. It did not seem possible but there she was, doing it. Then she was running at them, still slashing with the blades as she did...then summersaulting...and the three of them were firing up, but they looked worry, he could see that they looked worried...his eyesight was really good, he'd realised. Super human good, he thought to himself.

No, he coulnd't be one too.

She landed between them then jumped again and she'd managed to make one of the men shoot another, than she kicked that man, then cut the other's gun in two with her blade...then stabbed the guy who'd been holding it in the neck. He fell, dead. The man she'd just kicked had dropped his gun. He took a swing at her. She cunt his hand off then punched him in the face, knocking him out.

Mighty Mark stood up now. He walked out from behind the rocks.

"You do that a lot, don't you?" he asked.

"Yes," she said. He walked over. She seemed to be checking the one she'd just punched. She wasn't paying attention to the other two. Because they were dead, he realised.

"Why did you tell me to hide if you're going to kill me?" he asked.

"Because I'm going to kill you as revenge for what you did to me brother. They don't get to kill you," she said, matter of factually.

"Oh," he said. "When are you going to kill me?"

"They complicate things," she said. She was straddling the third man now.

"Err, are you going to fuck him to deaht too?" he asked. She slapped the man twice, waking him.

"I'm going to find out what the agents were doing here. Now make yourself useful and dispose of the other two bodies."

"Right. Err, how?"

"Throw them into sea. About a mile out should be fine."

"I can't do that!" Mike said in horror.

"Why not?" she asked. "You've touched dead bodies before."

"It's not that...wait, I have?"

"My brother's, for one," she said said, coldly. "And plenty of agents."

"Who are they actually agents of?" he asked.

"The Professor," she said. She said it in a way that made Mike think she hated this professor more than she hated even Mike.

"Okay...who?"

"Look, we don't have time. We'll get your memory back at base..."

"I thought you were going to kill me? And we have a base?"

"I want to know why you did it first. That will require restoring your memory with Elijah's device..."

"Who?"

"JUST SHUT THE FUCK UP!" She put one of her blades at the throat of the living agent.

"You had no intention of killing me when we were fucking, did you?"

"I don't know."

"Okay. Look. These bodies. I mean, touching dead people, yeah, that's bad enough. But I don't have the strength to just throw two dead bodies a mile out to sea, no matter what you say!"

"Quiet, he's waking up," she said. The agent opened his eyes. "I killed your friends," she said.

"They were prepared to die. Life is an illusion. Ego is impermanent..."

"Save it," she said, pressing the blade against his throat. "I'm going to kill you, but I might not torture you first if you give me the information I need."

"I self harmed for four years," said the agent, proudly.

"That figures," she said. "Why were you sent?"

"To kill you, of course. Duh. Now, death. I think I'll die now. I am nothing. There is nothing."

"Why are you..."

"ACTIVATE BOMB."

"SHIT," she grabbed Mike. "GET US THE FUCK OUT OF HERE."

"Um..."

"He's a human bomb, hold me and jump."

"Jump?"

"YOU HAVE SUPER HUMAN JUMPING ABILITY, USE IT."

"How?"

"JUST JUMP."

He grabbed her...and jumped a couple of inches off the ground. Then the agent started to vibrate fast. Then he seemed to slow. Something came over Mike. Another memory, perhaps. A new level of awareness. He held her tight and jumped again. Really jumped. He knew the agent was exploding beneath them. Then flew through the sky, the moon still shining on them.

"I've got you," said Mighty Mike.

"That's great...do you remember how to land?" she asked, as they start to come down.

"Umm...I just...oh shit, people!" There were some young drunk type people on the street below. Mike managed to steer himself and the woman (he really did have to ask her name) into a dumpster. "Sorry," he whispered.

They climbed out. She had cut her arm a bit. "Really, really sorry," said Mike.

"I've had worse," she said, ignoring it.

"Whoah, did you two just come out of the dumpster?" asked one of the drunkards.

"Yes," she said, and flashed one of her blade.

"Whoah, you going to stab us!?"

"Yes," she said. The drunkards backed away, then ran.

"Err, you probably shouldn't do that," said Mike.

"Shut up. We need to get back to base," she said.

"Wait. We're away from the human bomb now...tell me your name. If this madness is going to go on then I need to know what to call you. Please."

"My name is Ashley," she said, and it was, he realised.

"We were friends," he said. "Good friends."

"We have a complicated relationship," said Ashley.

"Fuck me then kill me," said Mike.

"That about sums it up," she said.

"I want to remember. I want to remember everything."

"Then lets get to base," she said.

"Right. Are we near it, did my jump cover some of the distance?"

"You jumped in totally the wrong direction," she said.

"Right. Want me to jump us to base? No, better not...I'd probably land on someone. Err, how can we get there?"

"We could take a cab," she said.

"You're still, umm, not wearing many clothes," said Mike.

"It's Saturday night. Lots of girls will be getting into cabs wearing less than me."

"Right. Okay. You're the boss...or am I?"

"Elijah is, if anyone." They walked out to the road to hail a cab.

"What does Elijah do?"

"He's a genius. Makes things. Nano bots is something he's good with at the moment. He knows everything that's going on, everywhere. Has access to...well, anything electrical. Just about. The agents keep coming up with new devices. But he always cracks them in the end."

"So was it just me, you, Elijah and your brother on the team?"

"My brother who you murdered," she said, as if she was reminding herself. "There's also Fiona but she's on assignment in Australia. And there's..."

"Who?" asked Mike, as a cab Ashley had just thumbed pulled over.

"There's your wife too," said Ashley.

"MY WHAT NOW?" asked Mike.

"Where to?" asked the driver, non-plussed.

"MEN MEN MEN bar," said Ashley.

"Hope you're not dressed up for the guys they're," said the driver, looking at Ashley's cleavage.

"Just drive," she said.

"There's a reason we're going to a gay bar, by the way," she said to Mike.

"I don't care! I have a wife! You didn't tell me! Why..." He looked at the driver, who was obviously listening in on this bizarre conversation.

"Keep your voice down," said Ashley, sarcastically. Mike felt anger building up inside him now, ready to explode at her. He had felt guilty up until now, because he had believed that she blamed him for her brother's death...even if he didn't remember doing it. So he'd given her some leeway. But she'd fucked him on the beach knowing he was married. She'd kept so much from him.

"You had sex with me on that beach," he whispered. She just left.

"Yep," she said.

"I didn't know I was married but you still did that to me!"

"Well when you did know it never stopped you."

"What? I would never!"

"Would. Have. Seventeen times by my count."

"But...are my wife and I seperated or anything?"

"Sometimes you are. Sometimes you aren't. If it's any consolation she's cheating on you as well, probably with Elijah. But you already know that. Or did before you lost your memory."

"What kind of a life do I live?" he asked, sitting back in his seat, letting all this information wash over him.

"A very complicated, messy one," she said. "As do I."

"Do I love you?" he asked. The question seemed to startle her.

"I...we're here," she said.

"Save it for later then," said Mike, as they got out of the cab. Ashley paid the driver and they headed into the MEN MEN MEN bar. "So...a gay bar is our base?"

"Our base is underneath the gay bar," she said.

"Why?"

"My brother owns this place. Or did," she said.

"He was gay?" asked Mike, then felt stupid, like it made a difference.

"No, he was just a good businessman," she said. Men were swarming around Mike as he entered.

"Hello Mister Muscle!" said one. "You're not going into the manager's office and disappearing again!"

"Yes, you are," Ashley told Mike, and they pushed their way through.

"What's in the manager's office?" asked Mike.

"A teleporter," said Ashley.

excellent!

"Oh...so quite literally disappearing then, he meant," said Mike.

"He doesn't know," said Ashley.

"Why put this thing in a gay club?" asked Mike.

"It's the last place they'd look," she said.

A guy danced over to him. "Hi there! Want to dance!"

"Do I like dancing?" Mike asked Ahsley.

"You don't have time to dance with homosexuals, come on." But Mike felt angry again.

"How do I know you're not...I don't know, a bad guy?" he asked her. He regretted it right, because instinctively he did know that she wasn't.

"I don't owe you anything, Mike, no explantions, no consideration, not after what you did today. I'm taking you to Elijah, he'll restore your memory and then you'll explain...you'll pay for what you've done. Now that's the end of it."

"Okay," said Mike, and just let himself be carried forward to wherever she was leading him. He knew she was sincere and that it was important they got to Elijah, whoever he was.

They headed out of a door at the back of the club, into a corridor and along to another door. Ashley put her hand on the knob.

"Not very well secured," said Mike. Ashley turned the knob but the door didn't open. She then turned it back, then back the other way twice, then back once more. She stood back. A panel next to the door click. She opened it. There was a handprint beneath. She put her palm up against it and the door opened. "Okay, that is pretty secure," said Mike.

They walked inside. The Room was empty. "COMPUTER, activate teleportation, authorisaton ASHLEY OMEGA TANGO DELTA HITLER," said Ashley.

"WORKING," said the computer.

"Hitler?" asked Mike.

"Elijah has a strange sense of humour," said Ahsley. "But a brilliant mind."

A white light flashed. Then they were in a different room. A bigger room. There were monitors all over it. A bald man was sitting in front of one with his back to them.

"Where are we?" asked Mike.

"Our base," said Ashley. "A mile underneath the gay bar."

"I guess no one would think of digging a mile underneath the gay bar to look for us," said Mike. The bald man on the chair still did not move.

"Elijah, I need...oh God, what happened!?" Elijah was crying.

"They killed her, Ashley," he said, turning around slowly. He saw Mike for the first time. "Mike, I thought you were...I'm glad you're okay."

"I'm not okay," said Mike.

"Fiona?" asked Ashley. "But she's in Australia!"

"Not Fiona," said Elijah. He had a thin, almost skelletal face, and pain in his eyes. "Rachel. You're wfie, Mike. I'm so sorry. They agents killed her."

i am hooked. what is mighty mike to do now?

I can't wait til Mike gets his memory back.

Mike did not know how to feel. Elijah kept crying and crying, and he did not look like the kind of person who cried a lot. Ashley looked to be in a state of complete shock.

"I'm sorry," said Mike, at last. "I don't remember Rachel...I don't remember any of you, or any of this...I don't know how to be."

"What happened to her?" Ashley asked Elijah, ignoring Mike. Mike could feel resentment burning off her, in fact.

"I should help Mike, I've prepared nanos for him..." said Elijah. "So can understand and..."

"He killed my brother," she said.

"We need to know why as well," said Elijah.

"Look, if these agents killed Rachel, couldn't they have killed your brother?"

"You killed my brother," said Ashley, again.

"Could you stop saying that? Could you stop saying things I have no knowledge of?" said Mike.

"Look, just let me use the nanos on you, please," said Elijah. "Ashley, I'll explain about Rachel, I'll explain everything." And he took out some kind of needle and touched it to Mike's hand.

"That was it? I didn't feel a...oh. Oh my," said Mike. He felt something now. His powers. He remembered how to use them, exactly how to use them. He had full access to them. It felt overwhelming. He was so strong. He look at Elijah, looked at his stick neck and felt like snapping it, just because he knew he could. Then he felt great shame at having thought that and looked at Ashley and saw just how beautiful she was, so damaged but so beautiful and he wanted to take her right then and there...

Then he remembered Rachel. He face was the first thing. All thoughts of Ashley were gone. How could he have ever looked at another woman? Those eyes. He felt hypnotised. He loved her so much. It hurt. Oh God it hurt. He wanted to be with her right now...

She was dead. The love of his life was dead.

He slammed his fist down on a desk and smashed right through. He punched the remains of the desk and it virtually disintegrating as his fist hit it.

"What happened to her, Elijah? What did those bastards do to her?" He had to stop himself from grabbing Elijah, because he knew if he did he would hurt him.

"Hold on a fucking minute," said Ashley. "My brother. James. Tell me why you killed James!"

Mike thought about it for a moment. "I can't remember," he replied honestly. She pulled one of her blades out and slashed at him. He jumped into the air to avoid it. Ten feet up. His head hit the ceiling.

"Ouch," he said.

"You're lying!" she said. "I've waited and waited for hours now to find out why you did it, you have your stupid little memories back and you still say you can't remember?"

"I remember...I remember what I can do, I remember my wife," he felt like smashing something again as he said that, "but...no. I can't remember what happened to your brother...I can't even remember him. I'm not saying that to hurt you, it's the truth. Look into my eyes. I can't even remember what happened yesterday."

"It can take time, Ashley, you know this," said Elijah. "Memories have to be rebuilt. Give the nanos time to work."

"I just need to know!" said Ashley, turning away.

"There's something we can do in the meantime," said Mike. "We can find the agents who killed my wife and make them fucking pay for what they've done. We can make them feel our pain, Ashley, make them feel it a thousandfold."

"You need to hurry then," said Elijah. "They're fleeing town as we speak."

subtle bump.

"This isn't right," said Ashley.

"I'm going. You can come with me or you can stay here and wallow," said Mike.

"You're not going anymore, you're waiting until those nanos work!" she said, grabbing his arm. "Elijah, turned the teleporter off."

"A mile up, you say?" Mike asked Eliajh. "I think I could jump and punch my was through..."

"Let him go, Ash," said Elijah. "We don't want a big gaping hole between here and the gay bar."

"This is crazy, you haven't told us what happend, how many agents there are, anything! You're always saying we shouldn't go on missions unprepared, Elijah."

"There's ten of them and they have a Robo-Sassin, Mike. Do you remember what those are?"

"Yes," said Mike, as soon as he'd heard the word he'd remembered.

"Rachel found out they were in town. She used her personal cloak to spy on them...but they have a new device that can see through them. They caught her and...well." Elijah looked just as devastated as Mike, in his own way.

"No more delay," said Mikey. "They die now."

Elijah pointed to one of the monitors. Two vans were speading along the highway. Mike nodded and ran to the teleporter and disappeared.

"My brother, do you know what happened to him?" Ashley asked.

"No," said Elijah, sadly. "But Mike had contact with agents...perhaps they compromised him in some way."

"You just sent him out to kill ten agents and THEN you tell me that?!" asked Ashley.

"Well, my thoughts have been elsewhere," said Elijah.

"I know how much you cared about Rachel and how poorly you got on with James," said Ashley, bitterly.

"I respected your brother and I will fully investigate his death, I can assure you," said Elijah.

"I know you will, Elijah," she said, softening. "I can always count on you."

"You should go after him, keep an eye on Mike," said Elijah.

"How am I going to catch him? The bike's still being fixed from the incident with the dragon..."

"I fixed it," said Elijah, smiling.

Minutes later Ashley was speading after Mike on her bike, the fastest motorbike the world. Invisible too.

"He's close," Elijah told her over her inner-ear communicator. "He's moving at his old speed...faster in fact."

Ashley arrived to see both vans speeding ahead of her, but no sign of Mike...then he swooped down. He couldn't quite fly, not properly, but he could defy gravity for limited periods of time. His control seemed better than ever, she observed. He ripped the first van over, reached in and threw two agents out onto the road. The van stopp but so did the second. Agents jumped out with machine guns. Mike shrugged off their bullets. He was strong than before too, she thought. Too strong, even he should be feeling something now. But he simply charged at the agents and bowled them over brutally. He grabbed one and snapped his neck. Ashley gasped. Mike never killed anyone if he could avoid it. He grabbed another agent...but then an energy burst hit him and he did go down.

The Robo-Sassin must have been flying above, for they could fly properly. But now it was on the ground. Just five feet tall, the world's most deadly killer, heading towards a down Mike.

Ashley got her blades out.

The Robo-Sassan was built for stealth and subtlety. There was nothing subtle about what it was doing now. It was firing wildly, openly at Ashley. It was giving no thought to avoiding detection, which would usually be one of its primary goals (second only to killing.) Anyway who happened to look at the road (and a few cars had stopped) would see a robot shooting energy blasts at a red haired woman with shiny blades.

Ashley expertly avoided the blasts, jumping, cartwheeling, spinning, flipping, or simply side-stepping them all, getting closer and closer to the Robo-Sassin. She had taken out Robo-Sassin before, but every new model was smarter, faster, more deadly. It was now shooting where it was anticapitating her to be, trying to lead her to jump certain ways with blasts which were designed to miss. That was when she touched her two blades together in front of her and just ran forward. The Robo-Sassin didn't hesitate, it fired.

Its blasted was safely deflected off an energy shield which had formed between Ashley's blades.

"Right, so that does work then," she said. "Thanks Elijah." She had known it would but prefered to rely on her own dodging ability. She was too close for it to be able to fire again. In one smooth mation she choopped its gun arm off.

A sword instantly grew out of the stump to replace it. Ashley was already striking with her blades, as fast as she could, then back-flipped out of the way of the sword's first swing.

Mike sat up. He knew that energy blast could have killed even him, but he was too angry to die right now. He saw Ashley engaged in combat with the Robo-Sassin. One of the agents was crawling towards her. She probably knew about it. Still...

Mike jump through the air and landed with both feet on the agent's head, popping it open like a balloon. Ashley looked round, shocked.

"Hello there," said Mike, grimly. Then he pushed Ashley out of the way. The Robo-Sassin swung its sword, but Mike simply put his arm up to block it, then grabbed the Robo-Sassin with his other arm. He looked into its optic sensors.

"You killed my wife," he said and smashed its head in with a punch. He then held the body with his hands and swung it...

"Wait," said Ashley. "Get the central processor..." But Mike had already thrown it high into the air and miles into the distance.

"Should land in the sea," he said.

"You idiot, you should have got its processor so we could read its orders!"

"I don't remember anything about a processor," said Mike, and he didn't.

"Damn it, your memory's still fuck. Maybe one of the living agents will talk."

"Not when I'm through with them."

"Damn it, Mike!"

He grabbed her around the throat. "THEY ALL HAVE TO DIE."
