Making ACC Debuts
The three new conference members in Cal, SMU, and Stanford will all play their first-ever ACC games at different times throughout the season. Stanford will be the first of the three to play an ACC game, as the Cardinal will play at Syracuse on Friday, Sept. 20, one day before Cal travels to Florida State for its first conference game on Saturday, Sept. 21. SMU’s first-ever ACC game will come at home versus Florida State the following weekend, Saturday, Sept. 28.

NC State QB Grayson McCall says he's retiring after head injury
McCall threw for 10,005 yards and 88 touchdowns over 42 games for Coastal Carolina before transforming to NC State during the offseason. Over four games for the Wolfpack, he passed for 518 yards and threw three touchdowns with two interceptions.

Louisville WR Caullin Lacy opting out of rest of 2024 season
Lacy has 223 career receptions for 2,697 yards and 13 touchdowns, as well as 580 kick return yards, 453 punt return yards and 151 rushing yards.

Lacy appeared in four games and had 15 receptions for 179 yards and a touchdown, as well as a 100-yard kick return touchdown against Miami. The senior ranked third on the team in both receptions and receiving yards.
 
Miami moves to No. 5 in AP Top 25; Notre Dame to No. 8
Miami edged ahead of Texas and climbed to No. 5 in The Associated Press Top 25 college football poll Sunday for its highest ranking since 2017, while Notre Dame, BYU and Texas A&M all moved into the top 10.

Miami is the first ACC team in the top five since Florida State was No. 4 the first week of last December.

Oregon remains atop AP Top 25 ahead of first CFP rankings
Clemson and Iowa State, tied for No. 11 last week, took the biggest falls after losing at home. The Tigers plummeted eight spots to No. 19 with their 33-21 loss to Louisville. The Cyclones SMU's 48-25 win over Pittsburgh earned the Mustangs a promotion from No. 20 to No. 13. -- the biggest upward movement this week.]
