THANK YOU ISHCABITTLE! I love the book, so far. I never thought I'd like cyberpunk, which is why I never bothered until recently. I'm converted.

OH and if anyone would like to read the book online for free (and it's legal) go here http://www.accelerando.org/book/

I'll start reading the downloaded copy soon.

Wasn't that a Harry Potter spell?

YES.

I need to go book shopping, but I don't have anything I'm dying to read at the moment.

are you caught up on all the Sookie books now?

No, I haven't had a chance to go book shopping lately, plus I'm too broke to shop online, which is how I like to shop.

bah! the server just timed me out in the middle of sending my post! HOW RUDE.

what I was writing was, I am tempted to read a book that has a Harry Potter spell as the title!

speaking of things Rowlingish, bought tales of beadle the bard at xmas for a pressie for someone i knew would lend me it...great fun, but very slim. Done way too soon, alas.

I did think it sounded like something old Potts would say too.

The book is very far from Harry Potter though, don't let the title fool you. There are no magic wands that aren't attached to someone's body.

I have Accelerando next to my bed and starting last night I picked it back up again...but I usually only read it when I am home and I have Coyote Frontieer in my backpack and I read that when out, so it may take me a couple of days to finish them both.

It's just taking me a while to get into Accelerando...to get into the book's "groove"...

I read Neuromancer, Count Zero, and Mona Lisa Overdrive (William Gibson) before picking up Accelerando, so I was already in a cyberpunk state of mind.

Next time I go book shopping I'm gonna pick some of Gibson's other books, and probably Stross too.

Neuromancer confused the fuck out of me.

Yeah, it was pretty confusing. I just blazed on through the confusing bits.. eventually I realized that when I was confused, the character usually was too.

I had to read wikipedia afterwards to see what had happened.
