Alcatraz (JJ Abrams show)

It's pretty bland. So far all I've seen is: returning bad guy of the week kills or does bad things to his victim, Hurley and the hot blond chick chase him around a while, the guy from jurassic park does sinister government sinister side stuff, and they catch the bad guy of the week and put him into a sooper secret new prison the sinister government guy has hidden away. Also Hurley gets to be Deus Ex pretty much every week because his role is the supersmart nerdy type who happens to have fingertip knowledge of whatever they need to know.
 
See my previous post. Theoretically it's a show about this giant group of convicts that disappeared back in the sixties and are suddenly appearing, still young and all evil, and resuming their lives of crime. The first one showed up right on alcatraz in his old cell but they didn't stick to that premise long. Now they just pop up any old place.

The big mystery is where they went and the sooper secret government involvement with Sam Niell, who heads a heavily funded but clandestine ops group like SHIELD, and Hurley and the blond were introduced and accidentally paired with the group in the first episode.
 
It doesn't help Alcatraz's rating either that episode 8 got pre-empted by NASCAR(:rwmad:) and they decided to show it next week after airing episodes 9 and 10 last night.
 
I totally forgot to watch this show. I didn't even realize it was still on tv!
 
One thing that keeps coming up in the comments I've read that interests me slightly is that the hot girl has really large breasts. But I wouldn't watch it for such shallow reasons (but if I DID watch, I'm sure I'd notice.)
 
So I watched the first episode tonight. SPOILERS. It was pretty meh. Not bad but no realy spark or excitement (despite the music trying to tell me to be excited.) Were we supposed to be surprised at the end when it was revealed Sam Neill was the young guard in the flashbacks? The actor looked just like him! The secret NEW ALCATRAZ was a decent enough idea. But I don't know...

The main girl was cute (TOO CUTE TO BE A TOUGH DETECTIVE?) and certainly has large breasts. Parminder Nagra is quite nice but was only in it for a minute.

Sam Neill is cool.

Is Hurley going to have to run a lot? That would be silly.

Why was Santiago Cabrera listed with the regular cast when he wasn't in it and according to the internet isn't ever in it?
 
I wonder if the showrunners will reveal the secret behind all the mysteries ("umm, we were making it up as we went along.")
