Villanova men, South Carolina women among participants in Jimmy V Classic college basketball event

Tennessee will face Texas Tech, and Syracuse will meet former Big East Conference rival Villanova in men's basketball pairings for the Jimmy V Classic fundraiser for cancer research and awareness. The men's doubleheader is Dec. 7 at Madison Square Garden. Women's matchups five days later pit Kentucky at rival Louisville and South Carolina hosting Maryland. ESPN will broadcast all four games. The Jimmy V Classic is named for former coach and ESPN commentator Jim Valvano, who died of cancer on April 28, 1993.

Alabama Crimson Tide overwhelming No. 1 in preseason coaches' poll
If you believe the 65 coaches who voted in the preseason coaches' poll, not much is going to change on the field in 2021. The Crimson Tide, who will be seeking their seventh national title under coach Nick Saban, were an overwhelming choice for No. 1 with 63 votes.

ESPN 300 CB Jeadyn Lukus commits to Clemson Tigers

ESPN 300 cornerback Jeadyn Lukus committed to Clemson on Wednesday, choosing the Tigers over Ohio State and North Carolina. Lukus is the No. 54 recruit overall in the 2022 class and the No. 9-ranked corner in the country. He's a 6-foot-1, 175-pound prospect out of Mauldin (South Carolina) High School. Lukus' commitment gives the Tigers nine ESPN 300 commitments, which is three fewer than Penn State and Notre Dame, who each have the most ESPN 300 commitments (12) of any FBS program.
