Big Ten completes 7-year, $7 Billion media rights agreement with FOX, CBS, NBC
All three networks will carry future Big Ten football championship games. Fox, which will remain the Big Ten's primary broadcast partner and has carried the title game since its inception in 2011, will broadcast the championship in 2023, 2025, 2027 and 2029 (in addition to the 2022 game). CBS will carry the game in 2024 and 2028, and NBC will in 2026.

College basketball NIT moving out of New York; future stops in Las Vegas, Indianapolis
For just the second and third times since 1938, the NIT semifinals and championship won't be held at Madison Square Garden.

The NIT was canceled in 2020 because of the coronavirus pandemic, and the event moved all its games to the Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan area in 2021, downsizing the field from 32 to 16.

Drake Maye named starting quarterback in North Carolina Tar Heels' season opener against Florida A&M​

North Carolina will start Drake Maye at quarterback on Saturday against Florida A&M, coach Mack Brown announced Monday. Maye and Javolby had been competing for the starting job to replace the departed Sam Howell. Brown repeatedly stressed during his press conference that the competition between the two players was close and did not want to elaborate on why or when the decision was made to start Maye. Maye, the younger brother of North Carolina basketball standout Luke Maye, went 7-of-10 for 89 yards and a touchdown in two games as a backup last season. The former ESPN 300 player in the class of 2021 flipped his commitment from Alabama to North Carolina.

Heisman Trophy winner Bryce Young among 4 Alabama players on AP preseason All-America team​

Alabama stars Bryce Young and Will Anderson Jr. are among four players from the top-ranked Crimson Tide selected to The Associated Press preseason All-America team. Joining Young, the Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback, and Anderson, the star pass rusher, were Alabama defensive backs Jordan Battle and Eli Rickd as first-team selections.

McClain posted a two-day total of 112.750, just ahead of Shilese Jones at 111.900. Not bad for an athlete nursing stress fractures in both shins and less than a month removed from a concussion suffered during training.

2K announced on Monday that the iconic game is back, featuring Woods on the cover and in the game. Fans will be able to play as Woods or play against him.
In addition to the Woods add-on, users will also be able to preorder the Michael Jordan bonus pack. The Jordan bonus will be included with certain versions of the game and will allow users to play as Jordan in the game.

Vanessa Bryant Wins $16 Million in Helicopter Crash Photo Lawsuit​

Vanessa Bryant and co-plaintiff Chris Chestier won a combined $31 million in damages in their invasion-of-privacy lawsuit against Los Angeles County. Both Bryant and Chester lost a spouse and a daughter in a January 2020 helicopter crash. Shortly thereafter, graphic photographs of the crash were spreading. During the trial, several deputies and fire officials testified to sharing the images, including “a deputy who said he showed graphic images from the scene while at a bar, another deputy who said he shared photos while playing a video game, a deputy who sent dozens of photos to someone he didn’t know, and a fire official who showed the images to other personnel during an awards ceremony cocktail hour,” per CNN. According to the Los Angeles Times reporter Alene Tchekmedyian, Bryant was awarded $16 million and Chester $15 million. After 11 days of testimony, including some during which Bryant “wept so hard her body shook and she appeared to be gasping for breath,” a federal jury has found that LA County Sheriff and Fire Departments were at fault. Bryant had been seeking up to $42.5 million, and Chester up to $32.5 million.

Serena Williams loses 2nd-round match in Toronto after indicating playing career is winding down​

Serena Williams wore her game face when she stepped out into the stadium for her first match since telling the world she is ready to leave professional tennis. Greeted by a standing ovation, the 23-time Grand Slam champion didn't smile. She didn't wave. She took a sip from a plastic bottle as she walked in. Some folks in the crowd captured the moment with the cameras on their cellphones. Others held aloft hand-drawn signs -- oh, so many signs -- with messages such as "Queen'' or "Thank you.'' She did not state precisely what her last event will be, but did make it sound as if her final farewell will come at the US Open, which begins Aug. 29 in New York. Williams has won the singles title at Flushing Meadows a half-dozen times -- first in 1999; most recently in 2014 -- to go along with seven championships apiece at Wimbledon and the Australian Open, plus three at the French Open.

Serena Williams announces she will retire after 2022 US Open​

Serena Williams, one of the greatest athletes of all time, announced on Tuesday that she will retire from tennis following the 2022 US Open at the end of August. In a peice she penned for Vogue, as well as in a post on Instagram, the 23-time Grand Slam champion said that while she still loves tennis, she's ready to move on to new things. For the last five years, it was no longer a question of if Williams would retire, but when. In 2017 at age 35, she won Australian Open while eight weeks pregnant with her daughter, but in September she needed an emergency C-section to give birth. She developed a pulmonary embolism following the operation, which kept her in bed for six weeks.

When Williams hits the court in Queens, she will wear a six-layer skirt ... paying homage to the number of U.S. Open championships she's won. Serena, 40, will also be sporting a matching jacket and tote to accompany the dress and shoes .. compliments of the Swoosh.
