LPGA names Stacy Lewis Team USA captain for 2024 Solheim Cup


Former world No. 1 Stacy Lewis has been named U.S. captain for the 2024 Solheim Cup in Gainesville, Virginia, the LPGA announced Monday. Lewis is already on track to captain the 2023 U.S. team that will face Europe at the Sept. 22-24 Solheim Cup at Finca Cortesin in Andalucia, Spain.

Houston returns to No. 1 in men's college basketball poll
The Cougars, riding a seven-game winning streak, jumped over Alabama and back into the top spot, where they spent two weeks in November and December and had another two-week stint last month.

South Carolina still No. 1, but Indiana get 1st-place vote
South Carolina received 27 of the 28 first-place votes from the national media panel. It was the first time this season that the team wasn't a unanimous choice at No. 1.

Mixed event for PGA, LPGA tours features 16 teams, $4M purse


The new mixed event that is replacing the QBE Shootout will include 16 teams of players from the LPGA Tour and PGA Tour competing in a three-day tournament for a $4 million purse. The Grant Thornton Invitational will be played Dec. 8-10 at Tiburón Golf Club in Naples, Florida, according to a release from the tours Wednesday. The tours haven't staged an annual mixed-team competition since 1999, when Laura Davies and John Daly won the final edition of the JCPenney Classic. The JCPenney Classic was played annually from 1960 to 1999 but was canceled because of a lack of interest from top players.

LIV golf's CW debut scores low ratings; Nexstar CEO bullish
The CW's inaugural live broadcast of the LIV Golf League drew an average of 289,000 viewers and a 0.18 household rating on Saturday and Sunday. The opening round on Friday was only available to U.S. viewers on the CW app and the league's official website.
