Veteran QB Lulay announces retirement
Lulay spent his entire 10-year CFL career with the Lions. The 35-year-old battled injuries towards the end of his career and split the starting role with Jonathon Jennings in BC the last couple seasons.
Griffin, out of WNBA for 5 years, to Lynx camp
The Minnesota Lynx have signed forward Kelsey Griffin to their training camp roster. Griffin was the third pick in the 2010 draft and has not played in the WNBA in five years.
The 20-year-old Kyrgios, ranked 72nd in the world, beat second ranked Rafael Nadal in the second round, then knocked off Stan Wawrinka and John Isner to reach the finals.
UConn retires Ray Allen's No. 34 jersey Allen played three seasons from 1993-1996, averaging 19 points a game as the Huskies went 89-13. He was named a first-team All-American, the Big East player of the year and UPI's national player of the year in his final season.
The rings commemorating the Los Angeles Lakers titles in the 1980s, which had starting bids of $60,000 to $65,000, accounted for four of the five highest sales at the auction's close. Abdul-Jabbar's 1987 ring sold for the most, at $398,937.50, followed by his ring from 1985 ($343,700). His 1980 and 1988 rings went for $245,500 each.
Also selling for six figures were three of Abdul-Jabbar's six MVP trophies -- from 1972, 1974 and 1976 -- which sold for more than $120,000 each.
