There are exceptions. I have the U.S. release of Azumanga Daioh and it's in a single boxed set. But you won't catch me buying two episodes for $40.

Each of these discs cost no more than $30, unless you're shopping at a place that upped the mark by a lot. And you could pick them up online even cheaper. The new boxset has been reauthored, and there are no extras on the discs. The boxsets are out there for people who want to buy the series cheap, but don't want to cheat the people who have spent their time and money by collecting the individual discs.

RommieSG, you amaze me with your psychic ability to determine bootlegs sight unseen. Can we use you to locate buried treasures or douse for water, too?

I guess the only way to shut you up would be to invite you over to my house to physically examine the boxed sets in question. No bootlegger ever put such care into a production, these are originals.

By the way, your Rommie avatar picture is obviously bootlegged, I demand you remove it until you pay royalties to Andromeda's parent company. Until you do, your avatar should read "This space vacant until I pay for bootlegging Lexa".

I'm not saying that your Azumanga Daioh set is a bootleg. Like I said, they reauthored that one to be on less discs, and without the extras. But if you're getting something from Hong Kong, and a 26 episode series is on 2-3 discs, then it's 99% of the time a bootleg.

Anyone who has ever seen a bootleg album, videotape, or DVD knows it is a bootleg. It's not like on Seinfeld where the bootlegger puts his "artistry" into the work.

Hey, I'm not saying it's a bad thing to get a bootleg. I have a bootleg copy of Macross: Do You Remember Love? and I'm damned happy to have it. If you're happy with what you got, then all the power to you as well. I'm just saying that it's most likely a bootleg.

Good plot and funny characters. Though if FUNimation license it, I would suggest watching it subbed.

Funimation dubs are getting better. The more they get talent from Houston, the better the dubs. Christine Auten, Monica Rial, Chris Patton, Vic Mignogna, Luci Christian. The more they're in Funi dubs, they better they're getting. And Greg Ayres is going to be voicing Negima. I can't wait for this one.

Well granted the Osakan dialect was a bit overdone, and Amy sounded too much like Conan Edogawa.....mainly due to the same voice actress, but that was one of the first titles with Houston VAs in it. They're getting better.

I read the Love Hina Manga...I never saw the anime. I cannot stand dubbed anything. I like subtitles and i can still pick up a phrase or two in Japanese.
