Anybody having any issues post them here..

by being friends with Sardy, MM and Mentalist, I've been the least likely admin TK could have for almost 2 decades... sure I've modded like a pussy sometimes, but at least I could always be trusted not to nuke the site or scramble whole forums in a blender lol.

Trust is the #1 quality in a staff member, @Mentalist knows he could log off two years and comeback and this place would still be trickling along.

Which he got, although it was a different one later than the one when he nuked & ran. He co-produced a "ghost hunter" reality show for one of the cable channels that lasted a season.

He was a friend of mine, and a graphic artist (with me as production manager) at a NY firm in the late 90s/early 00s. He introduced me to TrekBBS, and then the whole TK breakoff happened (with the first EZBoard in 2001). BlazerBoy actually got me in there, although I was an outsider basically pissing myself at the time because I was never a troll, but rather a do-gooder at Trek and a mod at Verteron's EFCL with its notorious EFCL Senate. Rules, proposals, constitutions, it's amazing it lasted as long as it did.

Then Sardy, RW and MM relaunched TK on its own site in Sep 2002 (on the anniversary of 9/11, which raised eyebrows on Day 1). Fast forward to Sardy's exit (Coincidentally our firm hit some hard times and I had to lay him off around that time). I was $M Gayboy Bruce Wayne then, I started the Eggs account to join in the fun trolling Jillian. And somehow, by being friends with Sardy, MM and Mentalist, I've been the least likely admin TK could have for almost 2 decades... sure I've modded like a pussy sometimes, but at least I could always be trusted not to nuke the site or scramble whole forums in a blender lol.

I kept in touch with Sardy via Facebook for several years, but I'm long gone from that app, so I haven't been up to date with him in ages.

Now that's a history lesson!!

Although, ask me about any details concerning legendary feuds, groups from other boards who raided/joined over the years, or other assorted ugly drama, and I draw a fuzzy blank and have to go through old posts to refresh my memory... I'm a timid woodland creature and I've only dealt with any drama when called upon lol.

Pssst. Nobody cared, but they largely tried their hearts out to make an impression.

when I posted the 2nd test thread I got this message on top

Oops! We ran into some problems.
You must wait at least 165 seconds before performing this action.

That was about 15 seconds after I made the first one so 3 minutes.

So I just changed my user group to match yours, I could do it fine, and I looked into your permissions and they look normal.

I cant spend time doing this now but I will check it out this eve, im going out to lunch then I got to grab the kids from school.

But nothing stood out as wrong

Apparently I can't reply to any posts. It tells me something like the post doesn't exist. I can reply in that thread, but directly quoting ain't happening.

Either a glitch, or someone on the admin staff considers me too dangerous with the Reply button.

No biggie... just thought I'd point it out in case anyone else has the problem too.

And suddenly I can do it.

If an admin fixed it somehow, then thank you.

The actual, word for word, error message may help with troubleshooting. "something like the post doesn't exist" makes me think it's something with your browser. OOH! Have you tried it from a different browser? May not help because these days a lot of the time it seems like the browsers take their settings from each other.

The reason I think it might be on your machine is that no one else is reporting the problem. I would think if an admin made the change you'd get "post doesn't exist," you'd get something more like "you don't have permission to do that". But for some reason your browser is opening the quote window and then not referencing the info the BB code needs to generate the quote.

Oh. Another thing you could try is toggling your BB code off to see what the message looks like. It's the little "[ ]" brackets, next to the floppy disk icon in the top right corner of the post window. Your quote above, in raw BB code, looks like this (with some spaces thrown in so it doesn't show up as code):
[ QUOTE = "The Beer Hall Pooch, post : 2413644, member : 556 " ]

Worst case, you could code the quotes by hand yourself, but we'll burn that bridge if we get to it.

Actually, it looks like the problem is Brave Browser. I'm typing this on Firefox, and it's just fine. How bout that?

That makes sense. Brave is so security conscious. It's got a setting somewhere that is telling it not to accept any info from sites so all the tags needed to automatically generate a quote are being blocked. There is some way to turn that off, but last time I had a problem like that with a site, I just used Firefox to access that site. When the old machine got relegated solely to bookkeeping duties I never bothered to install Brave on this machine. I haven't hated Firefox enough to. So far.
