Considering I don't like Charlie(British people don't use the word "sodding" that much) I really enjoyed this week's ep and can kind of see where the crying might come in, especially since it looked like he'd die. Really curious about the Looking Glass now, but like Menty, I kept wondering what was going on with Locke. Hopefully we'll see that in flashback form.
Well they have to British it up for the Americans, pip pip cheerio wot wot, or we wouldn't realize that he's actually British. THE ACCENT ISN'T ENOUGH OK?
Gawd.. taht reminds me of the guy on CNN who did some commentary when the Queen came to visit. IT WAS AWFUL he was like a cartoon character.
I don't think they Scottish'd it up too much, but I can't really remember... or did they and I didn't notice because that's what I think Scottish people sound like? I DON'T KNOW.
I don't know why they do that on American TV.. honestly i think they just assume we're all too stupid to realize that they are using stereotypes. Or they just think it's cute or something.. have to get every colloquial saying in there. But they do that with everyone.. Southerners are all portrayed as cutesy idiots, Northerners as rude and loud.. etc.
Yes, just when we thought we had the moral highground on the whole dodgy accents debacle. But you'd think there'd be plenty of British or Scottish actors working in America. People go there in droves to get in the limelight, right?
BECAUSE 'MERICA 'STHE BEST DAMAMN PLACE ON GOD'S GREEN EARTH AND NO BODY'S GONNA TELL MY MOM SHE CAN'T AHVE A GEORGIA BOY PUT HER ANKLES INT SOME STIRRUPS.
Because House is an anti-hero of sorts who gets away with having an attitude and is therefore cool. He can't be English because then all the Yanks like Sarek will fail to identify with him.
The funny thing is that House is a huge deal in the States. People dig his style and as a result he's kind of an American hero in a way.
Yet we back in Blighty want him to stay like THIS THANK YOU VERY MUCH.
