When I was given my ibook for Christmas, last year, I was also given a 3 year warranty from Apple Care.
My G4 had been on the fritz for awhile, so I called them. They sent a box, I shipped it in, they replaced the main logic board AND hard drive, and they shipped it back. Now it runs like a dream. All in the space of three days. And I didn't have to pay a red cent.
The extended warranty cost $249.00 (if I had paid for it.). The repairs would have run about $500.00, and I still have two years to go on it.
Oh, and because I fibbed and told them I had OS 10.4 (Tiger) before I wiped the hard drive to send it in, they gave me a FREE upgrade from 10.3 (Panther).
