Ash vs Evil Dead

Yeah so did they change time or not? He gets his hand back through time travel, they destroy the cabin in the 80s but suddenly they're apparently back in the present where his friends and family are still dead, and the town.. oh look my eyes have just crossed. Wutdafuk

I liked it until the last scene, which felt really weird and out of place.

Apparently this episode is basically nothing like the showrunner had wanted it to be, because one of the producers wanted something different. And now that showrunner has left!

It's a shame because I think that alternate finale does sound better and we would have seen young Ash and really what's the point in time travelling back to just before the original films and not getting to see the younger version of Ash??

The first ten minutes were pretty good, then Baal agreed to fight Ash for no reason and the fight went on for a really long time and wasn't particularly interesting, then I completely checked out when Ash's Dad turned into a chainsaw.

That interview does explain a lot! It's a bit concerning that Rob Tapert didn't want the colon fight scene because it was by far the most memorable moment of the season.

That ending Would've been way better than what we saw. The finale they put out made no sense. It makes me worry about next season too.

Episode was pretty average for the most part (I'm not a fan of the "Ash is a hero in his home town!" thing which is a leftover from the hastily rewritten season two finale) but it got better once they were at the school.

I'm not sure why they brought Ash's dad back for literally three minutes just to kill him again and give Ash's daughter another reason to hate him. You'd think the whole "climbing out her mother's coffin with her head" thing would have been enough.

This week's was the best episode since...sometime in season two? Having an actual human looking evil baby (and evil baby puppeting a headless woman) was genuinely creepy and Kelly and Pablo kissed so that was nice too!

Yeah this show always finds a new way to make something that's equally disgusting and hilarious and this episode was a really good example of that!

I didn't even make it through the first episode of the new season. It was just unwatchable. I was gonna give it another go, but didn't get around to it. Not surprised it was canceled. I smelled trouble after the nonsensical season finale of last year.

I got through it. I did like the original (proposed) Season 2 ending better where it turns out that Kelly is Ash's daughter. I do wish they'd stuck with that, because her characterization was really leading up to it. Although the original original idea was that Mia from the 2013 remake was to have been Ash's daughter, though that apparently all got shitcanned when AvED stepped in in lieu of an original films-into-2013-remake merge.

So it was Mia-becomes-Kelly-becomes-Brandy. Personally, I thought Kelly was the best of the options and would have tied things together in a really paradoxically cozy way. Kelly turns out to be Ash's daughter, eventually Pablo is son-in-law or whatever passes for that in Evil Dead -land.
