Attention U.K. residents: which shows should I be downloading??

If you don't know, now ya know
Love Doctor Who, Torchwood is pretty good (though I am woefully behind), and I'm going to d/l Merlin and Sarah Jane for viewing during re-run season.

Are there any other shows I'm missing? I'm looking for shows that would be fairly easily accessible to an American, probably not comedies since I don't get some of the British humour. I've heard great things about "Wire in the Blood" and "Life on Mars".

Some of my favorite American shows, so you can get a taste for my preferences:

Lost, 24, The Shield, The Wire, Heroes, Chuck

Any recommendations??
 
Even though you said no comedies, I recommend "the IT crowd", since the comedy isnt about being english, its about being a geek.

Have you seen Ashes to ashes yet?

You might like "dead set" too
 
Life on Mars is definitely worth a watch. Ashes to Ashes which whisky mentioned is the sequel series. AtoA isn't quite as good, but if you find you like LoM, then you'll probably like that too.

Not sure what else you'd like. "Shameless" is one of my favourites, but it's a comedy drama and it's about the working (or in this case, the NOT working) classes of northern England. Even I don't get all references in that, but it's well written and acted.

Oh and Spooks! I think over in America they retitled it "MI5", so maybe you've seen it already. It's a drama about a group of British spies. They usually deal with terrorists plots, so it's similar to 24.
 
Heard of MI-5, it's still in my Netflix queue to be watched...someday!

OH MY GOD!!! NOTHING!!! YOU SHOULD BE DOWNLOADING ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!!!!!!!!! You watch enough shit already, you don't need to watch anything else. How's about watching the 50 fuckin' episodes of Leverage you have clogging up the DVR before asking for more shit to watch?

Only had one series so far, but f'ing rocked.
 
I forget, did that end on a cliffhanger? I seem to remember at the time the end was pretty final. Was good though.
