I only recently figured out that they were called "glass block windows."
For the vast majority of my youth they were "VA windows" or "bar windows" because bars and VFW halls and the BPDBS hall were the only places that had them.
I've noticed that in the rest of the country where depressing-old-men's-drinking-halls aren't so common you more commonly see them as feature on indoor pools.
