BAG O' BOOKS

I'm about halfway through. Chevette is taking Sal to Skinner's, I bet she's about to turn those sunglasses on!

oooh - that's where the action really takes off! I love Sal.
The community on the bridge is great.
Imagine the middle class in America wiped out!
where are you now? I dont want to slip out any spoilers now that I finished the book...

I liked the little joke about "and anyway the President is black".*
So back in 1993 when he wrote that I figured out the first Bush was president (if my math was right?)
- *that probably still seemed like science fiction then!!!

I finished yesterday! Great book, I like the detective story feel it had. Gibson writes fast paced books, I haven't read one yet that I didn't like. OH and there are two more books in this series, I'm gonna look for them next time I shop [ame]http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bridge_trilogy[/ame]

yeah - I would like to read something else by him now. That was a good intro to his work...and there's a trilogy!? something to look for at library, methinks....!

Oh yeah, you definitely need to read the [ame]http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sprawl_trilogy[/ame] Neuromancer is probably his most famous novel.

Definitely going to read Cat's Cradle next. Can't believe I've lived this long without reading it.

ok - back from the library - tricksy librarians had the other two in the bridge sequel over in the ordinairy fiction section! omg! I also saw Nueromancer (sp?), but I want to just finish the bridge trilogy first.
discovering a new author one likes = exciting!

OK - LOVED ATP. Then went on to the famous Neuromancer - which was pretty good, but I didn't love it.

am going to get the other two in this trilogy just to give them a fair shake, BUT am not expecting them to be as great as the "Bridge" trilogy.
Hoping I'm wrong.

I think Neuromancer was his first novel, his writing wasn't as tight. There were a lot of confusing places in the story, but I loved the story anyway.

You HAVE to read Ilium and Olympos by Dan Simmons, I really think you will love them. I haven't started Olympos yet, but I know it will be as fun as Ilium.

^OK, they're on the list! (hopefully the library has them)

that's the good part of reading these Gibson books - knowing his writing got even better.

I've started the Count Zero one,(it's great!) but now I'm wondering if the book with Chrome in the title is the one I should be reading first? Akkk! I've gotten lost in the order of the books!

I haven't read Burning Chrome yet. I don't usually bother with short stories unless Wacky writes them, lol. It does look interesting, and the stories are set in the Sprawl.

I finished Ilium last night and started Olympos. That's the fastest I've read a book in a long time!

^ shows how riveting it was! The only trouble is finishing up a great book and then having to face facts it's over.

...finished Count Zero last night - really, really liked it. Thus far there hasn't been a Gibson book I haven't liked, and so many I've loved.
Can it last? Mona Lisa next...

^GREAT book!!

So scooped up Ilium and Olympos today at the library - hefty tomes! Another new author for me....looking forward to this.

Oh, can't wait to read what you think about them! The style they're written in is very different, might take you a little bit to adjust.
