My understanding from past experience is this:
If you change your email, the account goes into "awaiting authorization" until you go to the new email and verify through an email they send you automatically. Until then, you cannot post with that account.
If you used a bogus email, then you'll have to change the email again and verify. As to whether or not it locks you out, I was being rather vague. I should have also said "if you get someone's account, change the email and password."
Incidentally, you look lovely in your new avatar at WF.
