Best Star Wars lightsabre duel

This is a tough question whenever it is brought up. I went for Luke vs Vader from TESB for a number of reasons though.

That dual is probably my favourite because the atmosphere is so intense and it works on every level and is just an iconic piece of film. It never fails to get an emotional response from me when I watch it. It's not just my favourite sabre duel it's one of my favourite scenes from ALL of cinema.

It's untouchable really.

That said, from a technicle stand point of watching Jedi and Sith locked in sabre combat I would have to go with another choice. Probably Kenobi vs Anakin in ROTS. I love the pace and feel of the Maul dual as well. Yoda vs Sidious is another honourable mention. The rest are some way behind.

Sums it up for me. Luke-Vader, Episode V.

Yoda/Sidious would be my number 2.

Yeah, Luke and Vader, in ESB, it feels more like a fight where they are reacting as the fight happens to each others moves, not knowing them in advance.

The prequal fights might be more fast paced, but they are too well choreographed, its always lunge, perfect block, repeat until its time for a character to die, then they suddenly forget how to block.

ESB was like a street fight, and I love how Luke is able to actually hurt Vader at times, even though after all these years Im still not sure how the steam hurts Vader, the blade to the shoulder sure does.

Luke V everyone on Jabbas barge is pretty good though, if slightly marred by the guy who shoots Lukes hand, just standing there for a couple of seconds, forgetting he can actually shoot again, while he waits for Luke to kill him.

Where's Obi-Wan and Anakin vs. Darth Tyrannus in Episode III?

There's only a maximum of ten poll options and Episode 3 had so many fights I forgot that one.

Agreed, but in spite of this I went with the Darth Maul fight. Other battles are head & shoulders above it in terms of gravitas, but in spite of its one fatal flaw* this is the fight that really revealed the Jedi in their prime; what sick mastery they had with those sabres, and showed (what was probably the first time in generations) them dealing with someone as skilled as they were. And Ray Park brought a vicious martial-arts sensibility to it that's absent in every other film.

*I'm talking, of course, about the end of it: Darth Maul watches while Obi-Wan takes seemingly endless seconds to flip himself out of the pit, force-grab Qui-Gon's lightsabre and cut him in two as he stands there like an fucking moron. The tragedy is that, with a little more logic & editing put into it, it could have been convincing.

I went with the final battle from ROTS just out of respect for Ewan and Hayden training for months for that one fight and doing it all themselves without it even being sped up or anything and it was all intense and stuff and I have the high ground.

I think it would have been better if they didn't intercut it with the Toda/Sidious fight, and if they didn't cut out some of the more interesting parts of the fight.

They should have burst into a room where a big tittied woman was shagging, like in commando.
