Plenty of Tapas. YUM.

Seafood doesn't go well with me.

oh indeed. mmmm. (although I daresay I'd be really blown away if I tried it in Spain rather than a knock off up here). I wonder if it varies regionally?

did you have any local wines?

what's Spanish beer like? Do they even drink beer?

I would imagine it probably does. I had 4 different types in Bilbao alone.

did you have any local wines?

The gf did. I stuck to beer, but then Spanish beers & wines are readily available in the UK anyway.

Oh yeah, they drink it in the mornings. A number of the restaurant / bars serve alcohol from 7 in the morning. Smoking is still legal in nearly all eateries, and all the food is on the bar, where the locals smoke over it.

It's great - it's like they refuse to conform and I love that.

Good for them! I dont smoke and even I'm starting to feel uncomfortable with the anti-smoke Nazis...middle of a freezing snow storm and peeps are forced to huddle outside their office buildings...bit much. And I dont see why they can't have 'smoking bars' - them as wants to go into the bars can, and them as dont, needn't. What's so hard about that?

lol@ them drinking beer for breakfast!

THERE ARE ABSOLUTELY NO SPANISH PEOPLE UP HERE so I appreciate yer answers; genuinely curious. We can get excellent Spanish wine through the Liquor Control Board, which operates across the whole province so that's nice, cos they're obviously buying for the big cities like Toronto, so we can order whatever they stock, but I've never seen a bottle of Spanish beer in my life, much less taste it. On a scale between dark Guiness and light Corona, wot's it closest to?

San Miguel is the main lager-beer. Gets sold by the truckload and has been one of my fave beers for a long time. It's not that far removed from Molson's in taste, though from memory of downing Molsons (over ten years ago), it's stronger.

I seroulsly would have read a "Gagh's holiday snaps" thread.
