By the way...

My gf and I just started watching Heroes. We're only about nine episodes into the first season. It's good and bad all at the same time. Hiro's time travel paradoxes don't work at all. If this continues, I may need another show to watch on date night.

Suggestions?

Yes if you're not liking the first season of Heroes you'll absolutely hate the rest (and even I didn't thik the first season was as great as everyone made out.)

WATCH MAD MEN.

If it's "date night" viewing, catch up with Season 1 of Revenge. She'll like it more than you will, but you may reap more benefits after the show's over.

Yeah, Heroes had a pretty good start, but I think most of the hype was because we all thought "well, it's not perfect, but it's better than most shows are when they're first starting out, and we know shows always improve after the first season, so it can only get better!" and then the finale was a slight let down, followed by three ever more disappointing seasons.

Seriously, don't watch past season 1. The season finale dial the retard up to 11, and I stopped watching after that, but I understand it went up to 12.

I think the first season of Heroes had this really good feeling that it was building to something great. Like when future Hiro appeared and he was all badass and you go "Oh wow I can't wait until the show catches up to that and all our characters get together and be badass!".

Unfortunately it didn't do anything with the build up, and all the characters spent three seasons wandering around aimlessly not really doing anything interesting.

Well, she doesn't like Mad Men. Already tried that avenue. I'll check out a few eps of Revenge. Haven't started watching game of thrones yet. So, there's that. We watched the HBO series Rome. That was one fucking awesome show from start to finish. Shame it only lasted two seasons. It had serious potential. They could've chronicled the lives of all the cool Caesars during the pax romana. It sucks that they always skip from Julius Caesar and Octavian straight to Caligula. Nero would be fucking hysterical to watch.

One other good thing I watched lately was the BBC's second series of Sherlock.

I digress. Heroes looks cool and edgy so far. They have awesome potential. That's the paradox of writing good characters with awesome potential. Either you pull it off and have an amazing series, or us scifi geeks rip you to shreds. I'll probably finish watching season 1. After that, all bets are off.

Thanks for the info, guys!

I got this strange feeling that his "uniform" on the train was not how he was gonna turn out. See, in that reality the cheerleader must've died and NYC got blowed up. So, that Hiro may never exist. Also, his geeky enthusiasm for having the penultimate super power (seriously, find me a more potent super power than time control) is what makes his character real and likable. If he becomes all badass, it'd be too comic book cliche. Therefore his outfit with the sword seemed more like a campy getup than his real self. He just didn't look natural that way.

^ I can see that. I already don't like him for being too emo and passive. Does he get his ass beat eventually? That would be enjoyable to watch.

All I remember of Heroes was the mess of the season 1 finale.

My brother swears by Game of Thrones, I liked Dexter a lot. A lot of women dig the vampire shows. My new girlfriend is suddenly a fan of Supernatural and I've never watched much of it so I may make that our "date night" thing.

The trouble with heroes was they second guessed themselves*.

The initial plan was different people every year, but then they tried it half and half in season two, but with new characters noone liked, so they were quickly dropped, along with any outstanding plotline too tricky to solve (hello irish girlfriend), and when they realised Sylar was the most popular character he would get shoehorned into every situation, however unlikely.

Plus they realised Peter and Hiro's powers could solve most problems almost immediately, so kept coming up with stupid reasons to limit their powers.

* that and it got really shit.

Remember when it turned out Noah had used Kristen Bell to make Sylar evil, just for a laugh or something?

I liked it when Sylar and Bennett worked together for an episode, but then Sylar became evil again and it was back to the usual, with Hiro running at him with a sword but not killing him for some reason.
