Canada - what are you doing with those women?

They have the same issue in Dallas with young women - basically teenagers - brought in from Mexico and forced into prostitution.

I don't understand what the problem is. Doesn't that fact that the girls are young mean they're cleaner?

I mean I wouldn't want some nasty, used up 18 yr old girl. Not for my hard-earned money anyway.

Just sayin'

I think she brings up some good points but the subject isn't new.

I think Americans tend to think that enslavement is something white people did to black people for a period of approximately 400 years and while that practice was abolished neary 150 years ago the ramifications of that period of our history still adversely affect our nation. I think Americans tend to believe slavery exists only in other less civilized countries now.

Like so many other issues regarding the state of human development, the treatment of a person is an issue classified by ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, age, etc., and given consideration and priorty based on that classification when the merits of the issue are the same no matter how it is classified.

That the value of a person still has to be related to within the parameters of gender at this point in the history of the world says a great deal about the development of humans in general.

It isn't a brave new world but an old world with many of the same old underlying problems.

Slavery exists here.
Corporate wage slaves.
We are required to do more work for less pay,
to do other people's jobs with out a raise to compensate,
to BE the team and pick up the slack for the people that choose to lag behind.

We are required to make choices between limited opitions,
We are required to sign away out rights or we don't get what we want,
We aren't allowed to say a number of things because other's can't handle it.

We are all slaves.

Actually, not metaphorically speaking, while maybe there isn't an open air working slave market in Mobile, Alabama now, human trafficking is still going quite strongly.

I'll bet you'd have a pretty hard time proving that. I've seen and heard quite a bit of speculation. People seem to like to diddle themselves mentally over the idea. I've also seen alot of sensationalist, expose-style media flash. The thing is I haven't come across a whole hell of alot of real, prosecutable evidence. How about you?

Really? To use your words, "You have no idea."
