Touching the monolith

OK, here's the deal on this thread.. it will have spoilers. If you're waiting for the episodes to download, DON'T OPEN THE FUCKING THREAD OK :rwmad: (I love you all).

The first episode was good. I like the look of the show too, it's well made, or whatever you call it when the quality is good enough for most movies.

I am kind of obsessed with Sister Willow! She's sinister in some way, PLUS group marriage! Will she get into sweet little Lacy's pants? lol.. her young husband is hot. After her wives and husbands started questioning her, I wonder if they are part her one god religion. That didn't seem to be clear, so I guess we will find out.

The scenes with Zoe were great, imo. I loved how they managed to show that she was a girl trapped in a robot. THE DOG KNOWS WHAT'S UP! Also, I'm surprised she didn't do more than chop that guy's finger off!

I thought it was weird when Amanda Graystone decided to get up in front of the mob and tell them all her daughter was a terrorist. THAT WAS DUMB, LADY.

Tomtrek will be happy to see all the hats!

I will have more thoughts on this once you've all seen it and commented I'M SURE.

I still don't really get what this series is about. I'll continue watching, but I'm really baffled. I think I liked it, but I didn't really get anything out of it.

I think we're just supposed to be getting some set up on the characters.

This stuff actually makes the Cylons more understandable. I always thought their single mindedness was a bit silly, but knowing that they were all descended from an emo teenager with religious issues helps.

I liked it.

I liked Joe Adama regreeting leaving the virtualTamara. I liked the crazy teacher and her wives? I liked Bill Adama learning how to be a criminal from his gay uncle. I liked Lacey beince cute as all hell and hugging a robot.

Actually, yeah, it's the last part. I love any show where cute girls hug robots. Good show.

Other good things: The Caprican anthem with it's "So Say We All"s. And seeing a proper Pyramid game (briefly).

Also, I love love love Bear McCreary:

Jane asked me what classical music on Caprica might sound like. I had to laugh a little when I realized that I must know more about Caprican music than the series creators! I told Jane that so far only a handful of “classical music” compositions had been introduced in the BSG mythology, the best of which is “Nomion’s Third.”

“Nomion’s Third” was established in Someone to Watch Over Me as a famous piece of classical music that Slick used as his creative springboard. Kara recognized it and called him on it. (If you haven’t read the massive blog entries on that episode, I suggest starting with this one.) The piece she referred to as Nomion’s Third was, in fact, a quotation of “Exploration,” written by Stu Phillips for the original Battlestar Galactica:

I had arranged a longer piano solo version of “Exploration” for Slick to play in that scene, but Kara recognized it after a few bars. I was always a bit disappointed that we didn’t get a chance to hear more of the arrangement in that episode of BSG. Well, now you can, because Daniel is playing “Nomion’s Third Sonata, Second Movement” at the piano while working on the U-87 problem in his lab! Like a famous Beethoven Sonata for us today, “Nomion’s Third” is now established as a work that dates back at least 65 years before Slick ever played it, probably much further.

It was pretty damn good I thought! Loved the opening credits (why have none of you mentioned them, you bastards?) and the overall look of the show. Caprica feels like a real planet moreso than ever (as it should since the series is set there!) And hats!

Loved all the scenes with poor confused Zoe in her robot body, how she looked like a real doll when she was strapped up, when she bit off the lab guy's finger and when she broke the bed and hugging Lacy (yes she's a cutie.) Sister Clarice was far more interesting in this episode than in the pilot with her group marriage and mysterious poast (shagging students?) And she's got big tits.

Joseph and Daniel were well acted and I like Joseph being worried about his virtual daughter still.

"The crowd goes frakking wild, sir." I want a robot.

YES the opening titles were excellent, I didn't think it would be possible to rock-up a theme like the Greystone theme, but BEAR DID IT THE CRAZY MADMAN.

RRRRRRRRRR

And, yes, Surge, the little robot, is excellent. He should be the love interest for Cylon-Zoe.

Aww.. I miss Adama and Tigh. They were the best.

Sorry I didn't mention the credits CAPTAINWACKY, there was so much that happened after I almost forgot. Caprica does look great, and I love the Pyramid stadium with the giant statue looking down on the game.

Esai Morales might bump Captain Kirk right out of my shower!

On the subject of hats, I really like the mix 1950's and near-future styles in the show. It's great how Joseph Adama can go around in a trenchcoat and hat, driving a Citroen DS whilest there's virtual reality and robots everywhere.

SergeGraystone

Confirmed. The dog knows. I'm watching you, Caesar. about 3 hours ago from web

I like how he explains plotholes (Lacey being able to get back in the house.)

You know, that might not be a plot hole. Daniel probably didn't remove Zoe's security clearance (or whatever you'd call it) and the robot wouldn't know she is dead, so if Cylon Zoe told Serge to let Lacy in then he probably wouldn't even "think" about it.

Yeah, it's not really a plothole, just something we didn't see in the episode. Thanks Serge!

Because you see yourself as a robot, programmed by your in-escapable nature to beyond understand by others. So being huge by a cute girl is your ultimate fantasy.

But yeah, it was a good scene.

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

You're not an admin anymore so you can't edit your typos? ;)

HELLO HAMBIL!

I still don't really get what this series is about. I'll continue watching, but I'm really baffled. I think I liked it, but I didn't really get anything out of it.

I take it back!

I just saw someone articulate it perfectly on Something Awful:

Humanity gets wiped out because it rejects its children.

Whoa.
