The ah ha wasn't really some major revelation or anything, but at a certain point in the book I realized that my confusion with what was going on was exactly the same as Genly's, and that is the way it was supposed to be.. when he figured out what was going on, so did you. Most books let the reader in on what's going on even if the characters don't know. LOL I MADE IT SOUND MORE AH HA THAN IT WAS.

Have you guys read The Dispossessed and The Telling yet?

The Telling? hmmmm...can't remember it. (I went through a LeGuin reading frenzy years ago and may have merged titles in my mind).

I loved the Dispossessed! Classic LeGuin. I remember that one.

I think The Telling is one of the newer Hainish books. It was really good.

Wacky, I can't remember exactly what happened when Estaven was shot.. but didn't he do that to make sure Genly Ai was successful in bringing the Ekumen to Winter?
