Cat punches old woman, blackens her eyes

"Consider the situation. There you are, forehead like a set of balconies, worrying about the long-term effects of all this new 'fire' stuff on the environment, you're being chased and eaten by most of the planet's large animals, and suddenly tiny versions of one of the worst of them wanders into the cave and starts to purr."
~T. Pratchett

That's what happened. And for some reason, they tend to bring us gifts of a fresh kill. But. Even though human evolved from primates, our society resembled that of the wolf. wolves always followed humans and kept the predators away. Humans rewarded them with some of the food.

I've seen two good theories as to why cats bring kills back to the house. First is, they're paying tribute to the dominant animal. Second is, they've decided that you're their kitten, and your bald, bipedal pink freak ass can't hunt, so they're trying to feed you. I'm pretty sure the cat thinks it's the latter one.

I almost agree with you. However, I think there is another option. They are bringing something to trade for the containers of wet food when you've missed giving them their daily dose for whatever reason.

My bad cats like to steel the silverware out of the drawer and hide it in the living room. What do you think that means?
