College basketball NIT moving out of New York; future stops in Las Vegas, Indianapolis
For just the second and third times since 1938, the NIT semifinals and championship won't be held at Madison Square Garden.

The NIT was canceled in 2020 because of the coronavirus pandemic, and the event moved all its games to the Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan area in 2021, downsizing the field from 32 to 16.

Unvaccinated Novak Djokovic withdraws from US Open as he can't travel to United States


Novak Djokovic, the 21-time major champion and former world No. 1, has withdrawn from the US Open due to travel restrictions into the United States as a result of being unvaccinated against COVID-19. Djokovic made the announcement Thursday morning, shortly before the draw was to be revealed, tweeting, "Sadly, I will not be able to travel to NY this time for US Open." After winning Wimbledon in July, Djokovic had stated he had hoped the United States would change its policies, allowing him to play at the year's final major, and appeared to be training for the tournament.

World indoor track championship postponed again to 2025
Since COVID-19 spread from Wuhan in late 2019, the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing has been the only significant international sports event held in China. The Games were held under strict lockdown conditions with no fans at most events.
