This SUCKS. Best player since Jordan. The ONLY reason to watch the Sixers on tv, let alone go to a game. Internationally known, a household name, and a true warrior on the court. Played through injuries, on bad teams, and through scoring slumps. MVP in 2001, he carried the Sixers on his back to the NBA Finals. Single-handedly won game 1. If you're from Philly, the image of Iverson draining the game-winning triple, then stepping over Tyrone Lue...that's etched in your brain forever, man. When people think of the Sixers, they think of A.I., The Answer, Bubba Chuck, the Little Guy.
I was foolishly hoping that Ed "Motherfucker" Snider could patch things up and swallow his pride. But it seems clear that he's intent on not only ruining his baby, the Flyers, but also taking the 76ers down as well.
Basketball was the first sport I got into, in high school. Even before Eagles football (and I have the Eagles tattoo to prove my fanaticism) I was into Sixers basketball. From Doc & Moses to Barkley & Weatherspoon to A.I. and Larry Brown, I've been a faithful fan. No longer.
DAMMIT! Why do I root for a team that doesn't care one whit for me, the loyal fan? Why do I continue to find joy in the pureness of a little guy driving to the lane, or hitting a 3? It's just a business, and I'm done with the Sixers. Go Nuggets, I guess.
