Democracy

Do you have any idea what the more or less understood policy for staff is here? Of course you don't. Do you know there is a log kept of every moderating action you (and every other staff member) has ever done? And do you know what I saw when I investigated a complaint of post editing?

The reason I'm doing this is because I want the members who call the Badlands their favorite forum on TK to decide what is and isn't acceptable for the moderators to do. And to be able to chose the moderators they will trust to stick to it.

If all of you think it's perfectly acceptable for a moderator to edit posts, then I want it in the policy for this forum. If you all think it's OK for a moderator to log 15 pages of edited posts in one day and if you all think it's ok to move one members spam but leave anothers and if you want someone else controlling what is or isn't spam and if you all want your moderators to be able to delete posts and threads at will, then lets have a policy about it. Because we sure have one for the admins here.

Because this is a unique place, it's a spam forum. It's the last one left on TK where posts count. If you dont care if you have fair/impartial moderation when it comes to dealing with the members then I dont care. But I want everyone to know that this forum does not follow the same policy in that regard as the rest of TK.

Now in case this was tl;dr. You get to decide the rules and you get to decide who will enforce them.

have a good day

Please listen to mm.

I'll be back, but tell me why you think I dont care. I'd like to hear it.

It is in our nature to be suspiciuos.
But now I feel like you just layed the smack down on us
and we are your children
and you just disciplined us
tough love
and I'm totally turned on

The instances where I edited posts all had to do with huge chunks of mindless spam.

To Whit: Cow's repeating "WATCH THIS SPACE" over and over, and a few of Gagh's posts (".........." and such) is it perfectly moral, legal and ethical? Probably not. Did they deserve it? Yes they did.

As far as moving one member's spam and not another's goes... I was in the process of cleaning up EVERYTHING I percieved of as a mess when you yanked my modship (On Christmas Eve, IIRC).

So to sum up, I may not have been the perfect mod, but at least I'm honest enough to call a dog-and-pony-show what it is, and not dress it up with delusions of "justice".

I had a reply typed out to every one of your points, and then deleted the post.

I accept blame for not making things more clear. And so to correct that, we will set some sort of general standard of moderator policy for this forum and expect moderators to mostly stick to it.

;)

Can we democratically propose these General Standards of Moderator Policies, by voting on each, having defined at first, who is eligible to vote beforehand, in an equally democratic "Who is Eligible Badlanders to Vote in the General Standards of Moderator Policies Poll" thread?

So you're a hypocritical Cunt?

Thanks for clearing that up! :D

No we can not, Ily is the evil dictator and will decide all that.

Hey Pikkles, I like the sucking-up grin smiley that somehow implies that you don't really mean the first part of your post & hope to stay in mm's good books, when actually you were deadly serious.

Sycophants go down well around here. Sometimes they even get given temporary care of the pool house keys.

No, I'm the person that has paid the hostiing and had legal responsibility for this place since 2002 and that means I get to decide how much abuse my guests will take and from whom.

Oh. Well in that case please allow me to state publicily that the sucking-up grin smiley somehow implies that I don't really mean the first part of my post & hope to stay in your good books, because sycophants go down well around here. Someday I even hope to be given temporary care of the pool house keys.
