Finally finished the first season. Show fucking owns.

I must read the book.

Hopefully Seasons 2 & 3 will be as good.
 
Season 2 is awesome. Doakes really steps up his obsession with Dexter, and a new gal enters our favorite serial killer's life to make things...interesting. ;)
 
Season two is just as good. The supporting characters are impoved quite a bit in it (except Rita, actually) and it keeps up the pace and the twists and turns.

I agree that season 2 is even better, but I hafta say that - and I can't believe I'm gonna - the books suck. big time. Save yer money Menty.
We've been trying to figure out why the TV show is so much better and all we can think of is maybe more peeps collaborated in the writing. I dunno. Hopefully jeff whatsis the book author made lots of moolah signing over the rights to the HBO guys for the premise, but the story lines, other than the names of the characters, aren't even the same.
 
I think the main thing that makes the show better than the book is Michael C. Hall. He IS Dexter.

Eh, I could never get into Six Feet Under.
 
I just started watching Dexter, so I missed the first two seasons (or are they showing season 2 now?). It is kick ass, even after missing how it all got started. They do a really good job of making a show that you can just watch anytime and still get into it without feeling lost. Of course there were a few things that I had to catch up on, but most of it became clear.. I still don't quite know what Dexter's father had to do with him becoming a serial killer, but I think I'll find that out soon enough.
 
Season Two was great. Season 3...first 2 episodes didn't impress much.

I started reading the latest book, "Dexter in the Dark", and I like it. It's pretty good IMHO.

it had off and on appeal for me, and I gave up on it by the last season.
But Michael C. Hall was excellent in it; - actually the whole cast was good, but the writing wasn't consistant.

I like Lindsay's use of alliteration, and I do like the concept of the "Dark Passenger".

Dexter is indeed a good show.

I'm currently waiting on season two.
