Today I do not like my job.
But in all actuality I am one of the fortunate people who have a little bit of job security unless of course I get fired for behaviour.
I enjoy my job and the challenges that come with it, but I don't know what I really want to do the rest of my life. I have thought about teaching in some form or another. Not in schools-but maybe a training type position with a company. Who knows?
I love my job (when it is busy) and the people who I work with are great too. The pay is lousy though, as it's mostly bonus dependent, and with the property market slumping I don't get as much as I used to.
I am (hopefully) going to be finishing off my course in September though, so I can maybe jump into something more active, like rural and agricultural valuations.
I loved my job when I was deployed. Over there the Infantry are the big dogs. We pretty much did what we wanted. Since we were Strykers we were QRF for MNDB, so if we were somewhere it was b/c another unit had fucked up and they needed us to fix it and take back their AO. So our missions were always fun...
Back in Garrison it blows goats. No set schedule, so it's impossible to plan anything with my wife or to take any college (yeah, that 4.5K a year for classes does a shitload of good if you don't give me any time! ).
I'm really looking forward to Jump School in Jan and then starting AIT for PsyOp in March. 11 months of school (I actually liked college), 6 of that being intensive Russian, taught at SWCS. Good shit for when I get out and go State.
It pays the bills, and I get occasional bright spots where I find something interesting or challenging to work out, but I'm out of here the moment the company goes IPO (which may be a while given the economy and market conditions).
