Doctor who Christmas special

I can't even remember Matt Lucas being in it last year. Was he actually popular?
 
Are they filming in New York? I should check this out (or was it filmed months ago)
 
It looks super. I can't see the Doctor teaming up with superheroes though, taking the attention away from himself. He seemed annoyed when he teamed up with Santa last Christmas.

Is that the dude who looks like a chubby, bald Matt Smith? Maybe it's just the lack of eyebrows. I think he was the chubby little bastid that got decapitated and stuffed into a robot's armpit.
 
He has complete body alopecia.
 
Then I suppose it only makes sense he was destined to be decapitated and stuffed into a robot's armpit.
 
I thought that was an all right trailer. Especially by the standards of hit and miss Christmas specials.
