Downs Baby Actually Ms. Palin's Grandchild?

Sayeth Obama:

Politico's Carrie Budoff Brown reports: At a press avail in Monroe, Mich., Barack Obama on Palin: "Back off these kinds of stories."

"I have said before and I will repeat again: People's families are off limits," Obama said. "And people's children are especially off-limits. This shouldn't be part of our politics. It has no relevance to Gov. Palin's performance as a governor or her potential performance as a vice president. So I would strongly urge people to back off these kinds of stories. You know my mother had me when she was 18 and how a family deals with issues and teenage children, that shouldn’t be a topic of our politics."

On charges that his campaign has stoked the story via liberal blogs:
"I am offended by that statement. There is no evidence at all that any of this involved us," he said. "Our people were not involved in any way in this, and they will not be. And if I thought there was somebody in my campaign who was involved in something like that, they would be fired."

Thanks for the segway.

This is the same as a rule of mafiosos. Families will not be harmed. It's sacred among the cosa nostra to never go after a man's family.

I can hear him thinking behind this statement. "Two people are getting raises: my speechwriter and the guy who outed this story."

This is cute:

Although the McCain campaign said that Mr. McCain had known about Bristol Palin’s pregnancy before he asked her mother to join him on the ticket and that he did not consider it disqualifying, top aides were vague on Monday about how and when he had learned of the pregnancy, and from whom.

This too:

Among other less attention-grabbing news of the day: it was learned that Ms. Palin now has a private lawyer in a legislative ethics investigation in Alaska into whether she abused her power in dismissing the state’s public safety commissioner; that she was a member for two years in the 1990s of the Alaska Independence Party, which has at times sought a vote on whether the state should secede; and that Mr. Palin was arrested 22 years ago on a drunken-driving charge.

I thought shwe was demanding an independent investigation? :::shrugs:::

So, maybe he'll ask Hilary next?

Retaining a lawyer is a smart thing to do. You have to be pretty desperate to see her crash in order to make something out of that.

Why would he ask Hillary? Palin is going to sail the dottering old bastard straight into the Oval Office.

You know you want it that way jack... otherwise what would you have to kvetch about for the next four years?

You think the religious right will give a fuck?

Yes.

Palin will be seen by the religious right as someone who can't control her child. If she can't do that one duty, then how can she be expected to run a country?

Viva Obama. He's going to win anyways, but now it's more of a sure thing.

Wrong again, twat.

http://www.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/09/01/palin.evangelicals/index.html

Key evangelical leaders rallied to Sarah Palin's support Monday amid news that her 17-year-old daughter, Bristol, was having a child.

"Before, they were excited about her, with the Down syndrome baby," conservative, anti-tax activist Grover Norquist said. "But now with this, they are over the moon. It reinforces the fact that this family lives its pro-life values."
Palin and John McCain oppose abortion and have supported promoting abstinence in schools, which would seem to make Bristol Palin's pregnancy an inconveniently timed development.
But she is keeping the child, a fact that could make the Alaska governor -- whose candidacy has been enthusiastically embraced by evangelicals who regard her as one of their own -- even more popular among that key GOP voting bloc.

Etc. etc.

'Sides... and a child could see this... the religious right won't vote for Obongo because he stinks of muslim (not to mention fried chicken and watermelon).

The religious right I know would have major qualms about voting for someone who allows their child to run about having rampant sex.

But what do I know. I've just been around evangelical Christians my whole life.

What I find amusing is that Obongo stated:

"Let me be as clear as possible," Obama said. "I think people's families are off-limits, and people's children are especially off-limits."

directly in response to this non-issue, and still the lefties are going nuts over the whole thing. Shows the mentality, I suppose.

Fucking beneath my contempt.

Oh, to be honest, I don't really care if the girl's a whore or not. And McCain/Palin will still get most of the conservative votes they always had because the conservatives don't really have much of a choice of who to vote for. But I'm betting they'll lose some.

I'm actually not voting in this election, so it doesn't really matter to me if the daughter's a trollop or not.

Wait, I thought you were Canadian?

This Palin hatred is pretty embarrassing for Dems .

It's amazing that with all the real issues they could raise about Republicans, they choose to attack this poor girl instead.

Wait, I thought you were Canadian?

Not for probably about 3 years. Then I could either be a dual, or just renounce my American citizenship, which is what I'll likely do.

Did you know that if you're a dual citizen (American and whatever else) and you're not living in the States, that you still have to pay American taxes?
