EIers – What you say?

Grandtheftcow

Grand Wizard of TK
See here and here for some fun reading.

So that’s discuss the nature of EIers and their behavior. Use as many names and examples as you please.

EIers often make references to emotional abuse, child abuse, physical abuse, and forms of trauma. They seem to latch onto such discussions and place a personal vested interest in them.

Another odd behavior is the belief that ExIsle is a refuge, or safe haven from the problems of real life, that EIers can escape reality to the safety of online friends.

So what are the reasons for this behavior? Why do EIers expect the Internet to be any different from the human behaviors found in real life?

Well, it is, isn't it? Simply by posting regularly online this is the case. As for your wider points - the short time I've spent lurking & posting I've found a large majority of them to be just fine.

What I will say, is they do have a distinct minority who are amazingly anal in their approach to posting. The board is horribly shackled with numerous rules, that the moderators both struggle to impose and justify. As a result, there is a small, but clear presence on the board that doesn't feel right.

There is little freedom to post freely, as the rules appear to be strangling the board. The more they are determined justify the way it is run, the more it is stopping its own chances of growth. Like many posting boards, this has caused them to become a clique of sorts, unwilling to accept a number of individuals with differing views and opinions.

It is clear the overmoderating occurs to shackle that freedom, in order to alter the casual poster's behaviour to fit what the core 'clique' who run the board percieve to be acceptable to them.

Because of that, I hardly ever visit. I can't even be bothered find fault with anything, because it will be met with a trough of ignorance from a number of it's vocal regular who fall at the feet of everything the mods / admins post.

In short, I believe it is the only BBS I have posted at, that has been ruined by its overmodding, and silly rules ourside of the TBBS.

Damn Gagh you ruined a perfectly good parody thread, but you are right on in your points.

In fact the points you raised are exactly what we focused on before our permabans. We pushed the rules to a point where the mods can’t or won’t enforce them on the regular members but were more than happy to warn us for whatever little things they could find. When that started to happen we focused on the clique or A-Listers. They denied it at first but now their embracing a closed community with no chance of further growth.

Now we just need to ensure registration stays closed or that new members are treated with such suspicion that EI will become a hostile environment to them.

Their registration is closed. Their board is therfor doomed.

For any BBS to work, you need a constant influx of new members.

What I find funny is that they started those two threads after all the known trolls had been banished.

If they wanted a real, two way discussion, why not start them when were there? Afraid to have their theories smashed into oblivion, perhaps?

They don’t want a two way discussion. Remember this is the same board whose left wing members created an ezboard in order to be sheltered from right wing posts and thinking.

^ True.

I've always liked the way those "describe a troll" sites are written by people who've been verbally sodomized by trolls for years, so they decide to create sites to "educate" others who've been sodomized on how to "deal with the problem."

I've yet to find a "definition" which completely describes my type of activities.

Yeah it’s like asking someone who’s bankrupted to explain fully how capitalism works.

Troll FAQs tend to focus on Usenet style trolls and trolling, and comparing them to us is like saying white and dark chocolate are the same. TK trolls are an entirely different breed from others on the net and it’s pretty easy to see when you start looking around for other troll groups. That’s why we haven’t seen any troll FAQs that correctly fit into our style of trolling.

A really odd behavior is when GTC writes "that's" when he means "let's." I've seen it at least three times now. Is this a regional thing?

I don't know about EIers, but I don't expect the internet to be any different, which is how I know that you're an asshole in real life, too.

Looks like a typo. What's your point?

Oh...sorry, of course, I forgot - you never have one.

EI is a dead issue, as far as I'm concerned. It's like walking into a mental hospital and telling the patients they're deranged. They don't get it and are convinced they're ok and you suck.

IMO, there is little else that can be done there short of browsing it for the sheer entertainment value. ;)

It’s part of Canada’s official language ;) and its something I’ve always done.

I suppose it could be a typo. I'm just interested to know if it's a regional construction. Sort of like the way Ohioans will put "Anymore" at the beginning of sentences.

Trolls are part of the internet, and no board is a safe haven.
I've personally found some of the 'rational debating people' more offensive and insulting than any 'trolls' (tk or resident').

They are oversensitive pussies who can't take a punch w/out cryin 4ever about it. bunch of losers.

Actually, a great many of them will punch back, hard enough to knock a pussy like you from here to next Thursday, but the other EI members would just whine about how they have to be nice to the trolls, and use their passive-aggressive bullying to shut them up. So really, you trolls are more welcome at EI than a lot of EIers.

They punch back by unjustly warning or banning people with the blanket of their numerous silly rules. They do this, because most of them are simply unable (or uniterested) in 'punching back' in any way.

Your use of 'passive-aggressive bullying' to describe their manners enforces my belief that it is one big clique, mostly disinterested in letting people into their community who are unwilling to fit into their cloy & tasteless ways. This is why it is a dying board.

The irony here is, the way you post here - you are clearly much more at home here posting with the freedom you have, than at EI. That is why a relaxed rules system is infinitely better than the numerous shackles they give themselves. Stop defending them so stoutly whilst showing many of the characteristics many members of this board have. It's proving our point every time.
