Another one to look at is Bickenland. I could use the extra traffic, and I'd like to see what could be done with my board. ;)
 
Tyrant's board is open for registration.
Mine is, but the damn skins are having issues.
 
OK. So the way I see it, there are 6 options for Wordforge:

  1. Convince Elwood to step aside, remove all the existing Mods and install ones that have some credibility with the posters (for my $$ thelurker, Mrs. A, Lanzman, and maybe a couple others would come back)
  2. Convince JAllen to turn Starscape into Wordforge 2.0 (Or is that TBBS 3.0?)
  3. Build Anna's board into WF 2.0
  4. Turn Tyrant's offer into WF 2.0
  5. Someone else stand up a board to be WF 2.0
  6. Get comfortable at TK

I don't see option 1 as viable. I'm not seeing Elwood as willing to step aside for someone who would be willing to make the necessary changes. In the unlikely chance that he WOULD leave, I think it will be only if one of his Toadies takes over.

And I don't see option 3 as viable. You're a sweet girl, Anna, but I think the amount of work required for this is beyond you.

I'm thinking options 2 & 6 are the most likely, but all of them remain on the table for now.

You might have misinterpreted my offer. It's only meant to give a temporary home which I can give at no real cost to myself to disenfranchised WFers. How temporary it would be would be up to its membership.

The main point is that you'd be able to use it or organize it in whatever way you like for the time being. I'm a decent tech and have never violated anyone's privacy unless you're my ex-cyber GF (Others can attest to this). It's not a sell, just something for consideration.

No one would be made an admin, however, because of the hidden former/troll corner I mentioned, and that I simply don't trust anyone with the info others have entrusted me with.
 
:( I really, REALLY don't want to set up a bulletin board. The reward I would get from it isn't enough to compensate for the amount of work it would take. Hell, I'd rather not RUN a pre-existing bulletin board, but if I had to, I'd be willing to make that amount of effort. Well, maybe I'd better get to pestering JAllen. Or get comfortable here. :( (Not that here is bad. Just not Wordforge. :( )

You wouldn't have to set it up or bother with any technical stuff. And you'll have a subforum here if you check your PMs...?

You'd rather have WF fixed, which is completely understandable. I'm just making sure you understand all of your options, is all.

No offense taken, but care to explain how much work that could be? :wtf?: I'm not interested in slapping a whole bunch of rules. I have control enough of myself not to warn and ban people on the basis I don't like.

I'm all for some help/improvement, if you are willing to offer it, though.
 
And also: J Allen's board works the way it is. There are tons of people there happy to have someplace that's between TBBS and WF, and given J Allen's nature, I don't think he'll change that too much without asking the rest of the board first.

Out of the six options you offered, I'd go with getting comfortable here. It really isn't all that bad with a few friendly faces here now.
