Five years and 250GB of data scrubbed clean

Dude. I feel your pain. This summer I lost everything. Less than 100 gig, but still, "all in" in poker terms. Fortunately it was just me being stupid with the OS, so I was able to recover like, 96% of the data (some of it is still there, I just haven't found it yet, like my archived e-mails).

What happened? Physical hard drive failure? If it was just a software thing and the files are still there somewhere I have a friend (whose smarter than me on these things) who swears by Stellar Phoenix for data recovery.

Be cool. Don't do anything rash for maybe 24 hours. You might think of a solution.
 
Oh, so even though I know I should back shit up--just had the reminder this summer, and now this reinforcement; even though I put in a second hard drive EXPRESSLY for backups...you guessed it. :shrug:
 
That really sucks Menty.
 
Best thing to do is have nothing of any value at all that will be missed.
